Upon arrival greeted by lovely hostesses. Given a lei and our bags whisked away so we could check in easily. Checkin was excellent. The attention to detail everywhere was much appreciated.
The resort layout was very interesting. Within a confined area it feels like there are plenty of undiscovered areas to explore. This hotel is a genius design. Our 6 night stay was great. to be honest I'm not too keen on big crowds but because the hotel pool design is broken in so many different areas it didn't feel too bad. We loved the adults only pool. We spent a lot of time down on the beach. There were always plenty of deck chairs with umbrellas around so it was very comfortable. The sea was glorious. We took out snorkels etc and actually swam with a turtle. Beautiful. I loved how the hotel staff would come around and ask if we needed any food or drinks. Every staff member always had a smile and actually made good conversation about our holidays. Very nice. We are a family of 4 and it was wonderful to let the kids go and explore without worrying. It gave my husband a I time to actually talk and even read a book. Lovely. The ice shave shack was a huge hit with the kids ,as was the water slides. In fact we had a daily ritual. We would go down to the new cafe and pick up breakfast, Muesli, yoghurt, pastries, fresh fruit and even hot breakfast if wanted. bring it back to our room and relax. WE would then get into our swimsuits and do 2 slides down the water slides. Then my husband and i would head down to the beach for a swim. Around 11.00am the kids would find us with their shaved ice and we would simply swim, read, sunbath, walk around the bays and really relax. Now that was a holiday! We didn't do the character breakfast as we had just had a week in LA at disneyland and had done it all there. We did enjoy "Off the Hook" a great bar to relax with some lovely sashimi and a maitai and play cards in the afternoon.
We had an afternoon in the Spa. This was at the level expected. I love spas and have been to many. This certainly was incredible. A beautiful quiet layout and the services were stunning. Worth a visit! My daughter loved the activities with the Teenage area. and my son enjoyed a few activities at Aunties beach house. Very well thought out. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which was incredible. I loved all the beautiful details in the rooms. A very high standard. However next time I think we will stay in a smaller room. We didn't really use the kitchen at all as there was great food choices at the hotel as well as a great ABC store across the road that had cheaper readymade meals. We had a meal at Monkeypod across the road. Awesome!!!!! Also the Sushi Restaurant was excellent. We had only one disappointing meal which was at AMi Ami, the hotels flagship restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff very obliging but we had long wait times and they got my main wrong twice. Then they cleared my husbands plate away while I was still eating. In our country that is really rude. almost feels like you are being hurried up. Maybe thats just different customs but we came away feeling rushed. Expensive prices should mean you can sit and enjoy the surroundings, i would have thought.
However an overall experience at this resort was amazing. We definitely want to come back in a few years. WE just really relaxed and after 2 weeks in LA, it was perfect!
