We did this boat ride at the last minute, as it was a promo gift through our hotel.
With it being October, the clouds and weather are unpredictable, but we lucked out with a cloud break just before sunset and had a beautiful, colorful sunset... The broken clouds made it even more beautiful.
The van ride to the boat was fun, almost like a cab ride in NYC, only driving through evening traffic on Oahu. I think our driver needed a vacation too, as they seemed angry at the world! Fortunately, we arrived unscathed in one piece, this might have been the "motion sickness" warm up for the boat ride.
The boat trip itself was pretty good, the pupu's were plentiful, which I did not eat as we had a late lunch. The drinks were plentiful as well, but the mixed drinks were pretty watered down (IMO). The beer was good, nice and cold too, hard to water that down (JK). The crew was friendly and very helpful, brought us refills, took pictures of us, cleared peoples plates, nice touch! Well done!
The boat was a larger catamaran, which they hoisted all sails and ran up wind, and then down wind at a pretty good clip, it was enjoyable to not hear a motor running, and the unpleasant smells.
Unfortunately, my wife was not as thrilled about this trip as I was, the whole small boat thing with her sea-sickness sensitivity, was not good. Even with taking medication for it, it still wiped her out. Good thing the boat ride was over with in about two hours.
