“Amazing beach-Hawaii Beach Time is THE service to use!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2011

This beach is amazing. most beautiful thing Ive ever seen. We rented kayaks through hawaii beach time. They delivered 2 beach chairs, snorkels, an umbrella, and a 2-person kayak right to us at the beach. The cooler even had ice in it. and the best part was the price. Very affordable and made our day so much more fun. I would highly recommend the beach and the service to anyone with kids or a big group. It did get a little cloudy late in the day but the sand is soooo white and the water is soooo blue it didnt bother us at all. so much fun. Definitely check out http://www.hawaiibeachtime.com they made the whole experience so worth it.

“Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2011 via mobile

We agree with all the positive things mentioned. Important to note there are public restrooms and showers in the center of park And there are several great places to get lunch including a gourmet cafe which you can get plenty of great picnic foods.

“An absolutely stunning, tranquil uncrowded oasis!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2011

This beach was BY FAR myself and my partner's favourite, having visited most of the beaches on Oahu during our three week trip, bar those on the Leeward Shore. I cannot recommend a visit to Lanikai enough, it is a wonderfully beautiful, peaceful oasis away from the heavy tourist bustle of Waikiki, immaculately kept; unlike Ala Moana beach, is blessed with warmer waters than the North Shore beaches, and is a great uncrowded snorkelling spot (although beware of the Portuguese Man of War jellyfish), as well as good place from which to kayak to the Moku Lua Islands. We easily spent a couple of days travelling back and forth to Lanikai to snorkel and relax.

I would recommend going early in the day to this place to nab a parking space. As the beach fronts an expensive and exclusive residential area, there is no dedicated beach parking, however you may park without a fee along any of the roads linking Alapapa Drive to Mokulua Drive if it is not too busy. The beach can be accessed via a series of sandy footpaths lead onto the beach from Mokulua Dr.

Lanikai beach can be reached within 35mins by car by travelling westwards from Waikiki via Highway 1 then north east following the Pali Hwy. We found this to be the quickest route, and you can visit the great Pali Lookout on the way.

An alternative, though longer route from Waikiki packed with photo-worthy pit-stops and an amazing coastal drive, is the eastward drive along Highway 72 and then up the Kalania'ole Hwy. This direction takes you directly past Diamond Head, Koko Head, the Makapu'u Head & Lighthouse trail (there is a great lookout here from which to view Rabbit and Turtle Island), and several beaches (don't miss gorgeous Waimanalo Beach Park!!!).

This entry is quite overdue, having holidayed in Hawaii last June-July 2010 but reading more recent reviews of Lanikai Beach, it seems that the place hasn't lost any of it's beauty at all!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2011

i saw pictures of this beach before my visit to hawaii, it was even more beautiful and breathtaking than any camera can capture. the water was pretty shallow and it has great little reefs to snorkel. you will truly be swimming with the sea turtles!! we saw so many sea turtles it makes me smile thinking of it. amazing!! calm waters and breezes. can't wait to go back someday

“best beach in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2011

this is by far my alltime favorite beach, yes there are no public facilities but here's a tip: skip Waikiki altogether and get a rental condo/house right here in Lanikai. Youd' be surprised at the savings when you consider how many meals you get to eat right at home--or plenty of inexpensive dining options right there in Kailua. It's what we do every time we visit. Just got back from our latest trip and we didn't even make it into Waikiki once. No need when this beach is a short walk away. The sand is soft and white. The surf is very gentle, there's often families with small babies taking them in the water with no problem at all. The view of the Moke's is great, you can even rent a kayak and get out and see them up close. We wouldn't stay anywhere else on the island.
