“perfect for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2006

I was taking my daughter to her freshman year at college at Hawaii Pacific University and did not consider this a vacation. I have been to Hawaii many times and really was just looking for an inexpensive place for the two of us to stay for a few days before she could get into her dorm room. Pat and Patty Cooper graciously opened up their home to us. They are a great couple and both my daughter and I will always remember the time in their home as being very special. Having said that, the room we were given was clean and neat. Pat makes a lovely breakfast. The water pressure in the bathroom shower will blow your scalp off (I loved it, having long hair that takes forever to wash if the pressure is too low). Of course, Kailua beach is three minutes walking distance and is a great jogging beach and perfect for swimming. Shops and restaurants are nearby. They have a nice back yard where we sat out and enjoyed the morning. Of course, Kailua is a great area and safe. It was perfect for what we needed and I would definitely recommend it for someone who likes to spend most of their time enjoying the outdoors rather than spending their time in a fancy room. If you are looking for luxury and being waited on hand and foot go stay in a five star and pay five times as much.

“No Recomended for Honeymooners”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2005

If you want privacy, this place is not recommended. You walk in through the garage, then the living room and kitchen. The room is clean, but next to the kitchen, and the bathroom is down the hall. It's just a room in someone's house with no amentities at all. Although the beach is beautiful and just a block away.

“Guesthouse Inn Is Exceptional”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2005

We stayed with Pat & Patty Cooper at their Guesthouse Inn B & B in December 2004. They welcomed us into their home like family. They gave such good advice on restaurants and attractions not to miss. We had great breakfasts with different fresh fruits each morning. I discovered I love papaya...Not something you get every day in Texas!

Their home is down a path from the most beautiful beach we've ever seen...so tranquil and peaceful and not at all crowded like Waikiki. Kailua is a breath of fresh air away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu, yet so close in proximity. You're a short, scenic drive from North Shore and they'll guide you toward the sites not to miss.

You'll have a hard time finding a better price on a room and you'll truly discover what they mean by "island hospitality" after talking with Pat & Patty. I've seen some beautiful, picturesque areas of the USA but I now know why people consider Hawaii paradise...there is nothing else like it. When we return to Oahu, we will definitely be returning to their B & B.

“Great Bed & Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2004

We stayed at the Guesthouse Hawaii, a Bed & Breakfast located on N. Kalaheo Ave. in Kailua, from October 7th to the 16th. The owners Pat & Patty make you feel right at home in their lovely house. The proximity to the beach and restaurants is great and it's also an easy drive to anywhere else on O'ahu. Once you've experienced the tranquility of the powdery white sand beach a short walk away from the B & B, you won't want to return to the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas of Waikiki. Kailua is much more peaceful yet has all of the amenities you could want. We will miss the Guesthouse Hawaii. The breakfasts are wonderful and we really enjoyed conversations with our hosts and the interesting information they provided us on Hawaii's history and things to do and see on the island. This was truly paradise!
