“Great Food but overpriced for lamb, some steaks, and fish but Great Ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2011

Our first time for dinner at Buzz's after checking out kailua beach. the ambiance is great but it was VERY WARM inside the restaurant and that was at 7:30pm. Just wished they would have better AC or ventilation.

All dinners come with a self serve salad bar with quite a bit of selection, bread, and butter. I had the day special of 2 chicken breast stuffed with spinach and ham with cream sauce....very tasty for $19! My hubby had the sirloin ground patty that was charbroiled and very tasty at $15 then my son had the 10oz thick sirloin steak at $22. each dinner also came with steam broccoli/cauliflower and rice except for the steak. everything was very tasty i must admit.

for dessert, we shared a huge hunk of rocky road ice cream cake with tiny little marshmallows in it and oreo cookie crust...yummy for $8.

i had a lychee martini for $9 and it was very delish made with vodka...it definitely gave me a buzz.

i would return to buzz but like i said earlier, it isn't cheap but the portions are fairly large.
i would also sit outside by the tiki torches for fresh air instead of the stuffy indoors.
our waitress, debbie, was one of the best i have come across.

“Lunch is better than dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2011

We just stumbled upon Buzz's as we first got to Kailua. Lunch on the first day was amazing. Great salads and steak sandwich. The tempura french fries are to die for! Our waiter Jonny was great - he was very welcoming and actually offered us great suggestions on what to do, what OTHER restaurants to visit and some general Hawaii tips. Later in the week, we decided to go back for dinner. Dinner was AVERAGE. It was more crowded (there was a bachelorette party/tour bus with 40 drunk women that left quickly but first impression was gross). The meals are way more pricey at dinner ($30 and up) and the selection was more limited although if you eat fish, they have a good selection (and different styles of preparing it). The wait staff in the evening were just as friendly as Jonny but a salad bar in this day and age seems kind of passe. The atmosphere and location are clearly the best part of going to Buzz's but if I had my choice, I would say LUNCH.

“What's all the hype about?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2011

Every now and then I eat at a place that has been so overwhelmingly praised and just leave totally confused. This restaurant is located close to Kailua beach park which is about all it has going for it. The place itself is cramped and dirty. The food was average at best. The servers were very nice though. Won't be going back.

“Love Buzz's!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

We ate here twice earlier this month, and have been there twice 4 years ago. We were staying in Lanikai, so it was a nice walk to the restaurant (good thing after two of those fabulously strong mai tais).

The 2nd meal we had was particularly good. We had the artichoke surprise appitizer...yum..try it. I had a special, a filet mignon...and I have to say my expectations were not that high, but it was AMAZING...melt in your mouth. By far the best meal I have ever had here. We also like the Opah...it was very good.

We mostly like this place for the old time Hawaii atmosphere, ocean breezes and strong drinks. The food isn't the best you can get, but it is pretty darn good. The salad bar is also worth a visit if you are into that type of thing.

I think the people who don't like this place are expecting fine steak house dining, and that's not really what this place is about. Love Buzz's, hope it's not too long before I'm back!

“Great food...great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

Went to lunch straight from the beach. The beach was right across the street so it was very convenient. The food and service were good. We ordered the chicken ceasar wrap with soup which was good but not a huge portion. We also ordered the salad that had all different types of fresh fruit...this was a nice size salad and it was very fresh! We sat at the presidents table (Bill and Hilary were there a long time ago). Lunch menu was fairly priced. Enjoy!
