“Great food & atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

The Grove provides a great atmosphere, upbeat and lively if you are in Kailua. The food is an international flair and is really, really good. It is a little expensive, but worth the money. Cocktails were also awesome and the staff was friendly.

“a nice night out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

We like the laid-back atmosphere, the live music, the outdoor seating AND the good food. A varied menu with always a couple of fresh seafood dishes and good pu-pus. We have also brought our well behaved, small dogs with us and had no complaints from the staff or patrons. We dine here about once a month and look forward to visiting during Happy Hour, where reports are the food is great, along with the prices!

“Nice spot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

Dropped in for dinner last week. The service was good, the drinks were ok. We ordered some appetizers. The Salmon Dip was heavy but delicious!! The Steamed Manila clams were good, nothing special.

I had the Warm Brussels Sprouts salad as an appetizer and the Kiawe Smoked Chicken as my main dish. I should have went with the Brussels Sprouts salad as my main, it was delicious. The chicken was definitely smokey but also very, very dry. The mashed potatoes and veggies were the star of this dish. Several people at our table had the chicken and all had the same complaint.

“Some good, some not so good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

We had a reservation and were going to be about 15 minutes late, so I called and was told they'd hold our table, and then when we got there 15 minutes late, were told it would be about a 10 minute wait. If you don't want to hold the table, it's fine, but don't say you'll hold it and then give it away.

When we got seated, the person who waited on us was fantastic. The service was the most consistently good part of the dinner. Two people got the smoked chicken and both said it was dry and generally not great and left most of it. Another person got the prawn pasta and thought it was pretty good. I got the macadamia-crusted mahi mahi and thought it was fantastic.

The mai tais are a little different and don't have dark rum and are a little more "lemony" then usual. All-in-all, my dinner was great, but since the others ranged from pretty good to not-so-good, I had to give it an average rating.

“Fish. Not pork”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

Went to Grove on a date with my fiancée. Interior atmosphere is that of a dated family diner - so we decided to sit outdoors, which is much more pleasant.
Pole and fish entree was second to none, along with garlic edamame. Ribs were forgettable, similar rub to a Kansas City sweet variety and were somewhat dry, which they tried to make up for with extra BBQ sauce.
Overall - good meal, extremely reasonable, seemed to be a good spot for ladies nights out rather than a date.
Well worth trying.
