“Twogood saved the day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Last day and last minute, Bob managed to put together a guided kayak and snorkeling tour to small bird sanctuary near Kailua, Oahu that included a small lunch. The guide, John, was brilliant. He kept us safe, informed and laughing the entire day. I would repeat.

“Be prepared for a workout”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Great price, very friendly helpful guides. Chris and... I've spaced the other guy's name. Subway sandwich for lunch, delicious. They get you set up with a waterproof bag and give paddling lessons. The kayaks were already loaded in two trucks and they had customers drive the trucks over, while the rest of us were shuttled over to the park and dropped off. We then met up with the other people who drove the trucks and we then had to drag the kayaks about a football's field away down to the water. This was our first kayaking experience so my girlfriend and i struggled a bit to get into a rhythm with each other (we did a tandem). There were quite a few waves and a couple of the other people had to be towed a ways a couple times. Once we FINALLY made it (seemed like it took an hour and a half) to Little Mokulua Island, we walked around the island to the queen's bath, then back around the other side where we had lunch. Afterward we paddled to Lanikai Beach where we had about an hour or so of beach/snorkeling time. All the snorkel gear was provided. Upon arriving back at the beach we launched out of, we again had to drag our kayaks (this time uphill in loose sand) back to the parking lot where all of us (customers) had to get the kayaks back into the trucks and tie them down. The entire loading and unloading process was done without the help of any of the guides, as they were nowhere around. This whole process seemed extremely odd and dangerous to me. Everyone was extremely uncomfortable and skeptical about the tie-down job. Though i will say over all (lugging the kayaks aside) this was a very fun and informative experience, Chris was very knowledgeable about the islands.

“Best day ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013 via mobile

My daughter took the tour last year and urged me to try it out this trip. It was a fantastic day. I saw whales, Honu, and met some terrific people including John, our guide and Bob, the owner. This is a great, well-run outfit that deserves our support.
Check it out!

“In 6 hours or less you can...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

...ocean kayak in the blue waters of Hawaii in the crater of a former volcano, learn the tricks of landing a kayak with waves surging in from your left and right, rock climb on lava rock as you experience indigenous birds and water life that call Mokulua "home", jump off the rocks into a cool pool of bubbling waters, be greeted by turtles that are passing through as you kayak to one of the worlds most beautiful beaches and swim with the tropical fish as you snorkel off the beach of Lanikai.

GREAT day thanks to some fantastic guides (Andrew and John), that stress safety first! We are staying on the North Shore and made the trek East to experience the serene waters of Kailua and Lanikai. Worth every second of traffic, wrong turns and yes, sunburn! Originally planned on doing the trip ourselves and then opted to join the guided adventure so we could get the most out of the day. We've kayaked many time before, but being in new territory, we decided to take advantage of what the locals could teach and share with us. We were not disappointed! Thank you!

“It's a workout!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

This ended up being one of our favorite activities, but despite being in fairly good shape, we ended up sore!!

We booked online which nets a 20% discount, go to website listed above. Also read carefully exactly what is included in the tour and what you need to bring. One thing not listed were sunglasses straps, which come in handy if you get in some waves like we did!

Andrew and Chris were our guides. They were great. They helped us get our gear packed up, gave us a paddling lesson, and went over the schedule for the day. Then they loaded the kayaks up onto two trucks... and two customers drove them over to the water. We did get a discount for driving one truck over, but it is just odd. They really need to get some other system in place. We drove over and the rest of the group rode over in the van. We met up and had to unload and drag the kayaks over (without the guides). When we finished we had to load them up on our own also (again sans guides). It just seems like this is an accident waiting to happen. What if they are not tied down properly?

Moving on, the actual kayaking was great. It was our first time and maybe was a little much, there were WAVES that day!! Chris did have to tow us over one wave, which was greatly appreciated. They did keep a close eye on everyone and helped with landing and taking off quite a bit. We spent time on Moku Nui, hiking to the Queen's Bath - we weren't able to go in as the sea was too turbulant that day, and then hiking to another beach for a picnic lunch.

After lunch we kayaked to another beach where we could snorkel, before finally heading back to the canal and packing up the kayaks.

Andrew took pictures he emailed to us a few weeks later. And there also was a shower available if absolutely needed. One couple was between hotel and cruise ship so that came in handy for them.
