“Majestic Views of Kailua beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Be prepared for a bit of a climb! This trail has three peaks; my brother and I did the first one because it alone was enough of a challenge. The trail is sometimes narrow and there are 4 or so sections where you really need the rope that's affixed to the path. That being said, it was a GREAT workout, with beautiful views and enough other hikers on the trail that you didn't feel eerily alone.

“Craziest trail I've ever done”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

This trail is more than worth it, but you should really know your limits and be in good shape if you consider going on this trail. In fact I am still dreaming about doing the third peak as we just did the first two and then felt so tired that we thought it might be better to go back. Amazing though!!!

“Research and know your ability”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Be advised that there are two ways to hike this. Read about this hike in a book on hiking in Hawaii. Warning: the tougher route resulted in the death of a 42 yr old man last year. Even the easier route is tough, but the harder one is treacherous in parts. I am a 40 yr. resident of Kailua and just want to make sure those who want an adventure survive it.

“Best views anywhere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Prepare for a serious hike. Trails get harder as you approach the peak. This hike requires some rope climbing and scaling of some sheer face rock cliffs, but all worth the workout. On a clear dat you can see to the ocean in all directions.

“Use common sense/Fantastic Workout and View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

I have seen/heard many people talking about how this is dangerous. Do an honest assessment of your own physical abilities. If you are visiting or live in Oahu do Diamond Head first. If you had a hard time with that then do not do this hike. It is only dangerous if you are not in moderate physical condition. I have seen little kids and old Japanese tourists on this thing doing just fine.

Stay on the trail and there will be no problem. Bring at least a liter of water, light snack and a photo taking device of some kind. When I did this solo I had my ipod and it was great.

Tips: Do not bring a kid on this hike until they are at least 12 years old I would say. Check the weather because when it rains it gets quite muddy. Bring in your car to the parking lot only what you need for your hike and will be taking with you. Might want bug spray just in case but I never had an issue with this.

Finaly tip and most important is Post-hike. Have some sandals and a towel waiting for you in your car. Feels so good after.
