We arrived at the Turtle Bay on December 2, 2004 for 7 nights. We were a bit concerned after reading some reviews but we were delighted with our stay. We booked through Costco which included air non-stop from Phoenix, a rental car, breakfast buffet and a beautiful ocean and pool side room with a large balcony to enjoy!!!! Even with winter winds and rain, WE LOVED IT. The Aloha was wonderful, from the bell captain, waitress, bartenders...EVERYONE!! The room was beautiful, no smells, great bathroom...and Kona coffee! Our friends stayed in one of the cottages, which was beautiful and large, but I enjoyed our room at half the price. We had a great dinner at the golf club restaurant!! We certainly enjoyed the breakfast buffet! Had a great lunch and Mai Tai around the pool! The gym was complete enough to get a good workout daily!!!
I thought the Laua at the Polynesian Center was a waste of big bucks. If you have been to one Laua, do not spend the money. There was an abundance of bad food..we are empty nesters, perhaps children would enjoy...but we were sorry we went!

I think Oahu is a bit less expensive than Maui! The North Shore is relaxing and away from the crowd! Shrimp at the one and only
Geovanni's Shrimp truck was a deal.....although there are fresh shrimp
farmed there...they most likely taste the same at the other trucks you pass.

The Dole plant??? If you see one pineapple...you have seen them all...
save your money and if you do go certainly do not fall for the key trick and get hooked into a setting for a pearl!

We would certainly only return to the Turtle Bay if we go to Oahu!

beautiful location. we stayed dec 21 and 22 '05 The north shore waves were the biggest in years and we had a bird's eye view from our 6th floor room. the staff was more than accomodating at every turn. we had room service both mornings and it was perfect and served beautifully. I had read a few bad reviews and wondered if we would run into any of the problems. If there was a union worker -employer problem it was not evident. We did get someone to talk about it but she said "I need this job" we would love to return and saw nothing but a wonderful resort that promotes relaxation. It is the only hotel on the north shore and it is 40 miles from the airport. It was perfect.

Our family arrived at Turtle Bay on December 23rd, 2004. This was our second time on Oahu, and knew not to stay on Waikiki with the kids. From the bell boys to all of management at the resort, we were greeted with the true Aloha spirit. The one time that we had a problem with our dinner, management apologized up and down, and even gave us a certificate for a free brunch later in our stay. Our room was clean, and the food was good. Our next trip to Oahu will certainly include Turtle Bay.

My husband and I stayed at the Turtle Bay Resort for our honeymoon from November 14-November 23, 2004. Unfortunately I do not have anything but complaints about our hotel stay. Our room had an overwhelming mold odor and the tiles in the bathroom around the bath tub were full of mold. The windows in the hallways leaked during rain showers, including down the hall walls. There was a maximum of 2 dining choices for each meal every day. We had to "pay-off" the pool-side waitresses to serve us, and the service we received was far from acceptable. After complaining to management, they advised the hotel did not have enough rooms booked to keep the restaurants open and offered us a room upgrade-from an ocean view room to a beach shack view room? When questioning why they would do such a thing, they replied that they were booked solid? That was our third day there and we never heard from any employee of the resort again. They had filming crews there for a tv show, blocking entry to areas of the resort for paying guests. We have for 3 years and will continue to travel to the islands of Hawaii once a year and have never experienced anything like this and will never stay at the Turtle Bay Resort again.

The deluxe ocean view 6th floor room smelled very moldy the minute we walked in the room. We couldn't store our cloths in the dresser because it smelled moldy too. A few hours after enjoying the ocean view, my husband had a headache, and our toddler was coughing.

Even though the hotel wasn't crowded, the only rooms they offered were on the 3rd floor with a partial ocean view, and a great view of their convention center roof! It was not worth $330 a night. We think they cater to the convention crowd, versus families.

We got room service because at 5:30pm it was the only way to get any food that day. The fish was ok, but the hamburger we ordered was raw in the middle, but we had tickets to the show at the Cultural center, so we didn't have time to send it back. My husband got sick from eating the hamburger.

All in all, the mold in the "deluxe" rooms made it a place that we will never return to.
