“This is so NOT luxury or 5-star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This resort represents itself as "luxury" and I have no idea what exactly they consider luxurious at this property. They do charge prices as if you are at 5-star property but unless this is your first trip to Hawaii, you will quickly realize that this resort is a rip off and you can do much better elsewhere for exact same prices.

This resort looks and smells old. Dirty, disgusting, smelly carpets all over, non-existent (or rushed with attitude) service, remote location, weird rules, and just general nobody-really-cares attitude. This property reminded me of some run down casino off Las Vegas strip with similar looking people working there. Need help trying to find how to get somewhere from the lobby? Good luck! They will advise you to "just find the signs on the wall and follow them." Need concierge help trying to book something to do outside this place? Best of luck! Concierge will repeatedly hang up the phone on you pretending it's "bad connection". Want to eat in over-priced Ola restaurant on the property? You will get so much attitude from this "fine dining" on the beach place but you will still keep coming back and eat here cause there is nowhere else to go. Want to see sunset on the beach? Well, sorry, you can lay down and relax until 5pm, after 5pm some dudes walk around and bark for you that service is only until 5pm. What service?! Nobody knows, there is no service. Swimming in the ocean? Water is murky, dead corals around. Beach is clean though.
Location is far away from everywhere. Won't be a problem if this place delivered on their promise after charging crazy money, but most likely you would want to escape this place after 2 days and there is nowhere to go. This is not a hidden gem or hidden paradise or whatever, it's just some old barely 3-star hotel. You can definitely do better.

We stayed at Turtle Bay for two weeks and everything was perfect - including the wonderful work by Della (hotel maid) and George (hotel property operations). Bravo to both of you. I highly recommend Turtle Bay!

The location of the property is awesome. Surfing, swimming and snorkeling all right outside the door. The Hans Hedeman Surf School has Devon Jackson to teach you and your kids to shred. Leilani is the front Desk Manager and she makes it her job to insure that you and your family have a great trip. All people working on property were very friendly.

Room Tip: All Rooms have Ocean View.

My wife an I just returned from a week on the North Shore - Staying the entire time at Turtle Bay. I'm not big fan of Honolulu so was a little wary of what the North Shore of Oahu would be like - I was very pleased with what we discovere. Turtle Bay is about 40 miles from the Honolulu airport -- depending on traffic, the (beautiful) drive is about an hour to an hour and a half.

The property is located on a penisula and the buildings are designed so that just about every room in the main hotel has an ocean view. Our room was relatively large and had a (small'ish) lani just big enough for two chairs and a small table.

Resort has 4 restaurants all of which we tried -- they were all good, if not a bit over priced.

Lots of extras with the resort -- free daily snorkel gear use, free use of golf clubs on driving range, available surfboard, boogiee board, SUP board rentals...

Overall a vey good experience.

Aloha,

Thank you for staying with us at Turtle Bay! I am glad you enjoyed your time with us. We truly offer a neighbor island experience on the island of Oahu. You can enjoy the “country” of Oahu but still have the ability to drive an hour to the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and Honolulu if you need a taste of the city. In the end, I am glad Turtle Bay was the perfect fit for you and you had a good experience. Mahalo for your review and we hope to welcome you back someday.

Turtle bay resort is perfect for a relaxing, exciting holiday with plently to do. Their service is amazing, such lovely people! There are endless amounts of brilliant food places to go. I highly recommend Banzai Sushi Bar and Kahuku Grill.

Great hotel, with very nice views. Our premier ocean view room on the 5th floor had beautiful views, and was a very spacious room. Loved the two-counter bathroom setup, with one sink in the toilet/shower area with a door, and the other outside of that by the very spacious closet. LOVED this room! One of the biggest downsides is there is not much around this resort - you have to drive (with traffic) about 20 minutes to get to more restaurants and shopping in the town of Haleiwa, which is very quaint. Check-in was very mixed up and quite slow - that's about the only bad thing I can say about the service here. Our favorite activity was standup paddleboarding with Shane (also known as "Turtle") from Hans Hedemann Surf School. This activity center is right on the property and you can get surfing or paddleboarding lessons for a reasonable price. Shane was awesome and very patient!! We did this twice and I would have done it again if we had enough time. Highly recommend that anyone visiting this resort takes the time to do one of these activities - and ask for Shane!!

Green Features: Hotel does a good job outlining their sheet changing policy, and towel changing policy. I was impressed by that.

I'm so sad we didn't stay here for the first leg of our trip, or at least for more nights. This resort is magnificent. Everything is pristine, clean, beautiful, and amazing views wherever you look. The staff was friendly. Most off all, the activities guys are the best. They are so helpful with all your bookings and they have great energy.

The Room: the room was a little smaller than I expected. Kind of cramped. But since the outdoors are so magnificent we were outside most of the time. Otherwise, the room was clean and well kept, with a beautiful view of the ocean and pool

The pool: Very clean and well kept with amazing views of the ocean - as I said there are spectacular views wherever you go. I didn't have a hard time finding a chair, though I did notice some time of the day are a little more hectic than others.

Pool service: The bar service felt like a hit or miss. One day it was terrible, I couldn't catch anyone to place an order, so I headed to the bar to order and brought my food back to my chair. The next day the service was a better. The drinks and food were excellent. Try the monkeys lunch drink, I loved that.

The Gym: I wanted to move in there! An all around glass wall facing the ocean. Every
Machine spaced nicely and neatly apart, not clambering over each other. All the workout equipment was state of the art and everything you'll need is there.

There is so much to do at this resort, activities, restaurants, the beach, the pool, the gardens... My husband and I were so sad to leave.
