“Beautiful location, Gorgeous views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We just spent a lovely week at Turtle Bay, and will definitely return. As the only resort on the North Shore, Turtle Bay does not have much competition. This is probably why the resort is only just getting going on its upgrade. Our room was a bit tatty, with a jerry-rigged shower and peeling paint, but the bed was super comfortable, maid service was fine, and amenities like the spa, fitness classes, gym, and paddle board lessons were easily accessible and first rate. (Gym and spa having been recently updated.) The beach is super, with remarkably good snorkeling and a nice walking path just beyond. We didn't golf at the resort, but plan to on a future trip.
I agree with other reviewers that the balcony is quite small, but still serviceable. Our ocean view was fantastic, and we slept with the sliding glass doors open, enjoying the ocean breeze.

Room Tip: We chose the top floor with an ocean view.

Aloha, Thank you for sharing you enjoyed our new spa, Nalu Kinetic Spa. We take pride in the steps we are taking to better serve our guests. The enhancements include two restaurants, our new spa and fitness center, green roofs and all of our guestrooms. We are excited for the completion of the rest of our renovations. We’re sure you will enjoy the changes along with our golf course during your next stay. Mahalo and we hope to see you soon.

This gorgeous hotel is 1 hr away from the busyness of downtown Honolulu, which is partly why we loved it here. Plus it is gorgous, clean, and has several nice places to eat right there. It is close to a grocery store so you can grab sandwhiches and bottled water to put in your fridge. The beach is great, and it is less than 5min from Turtle Bay, where the turtles hang out, Sunset Beach and apprx 15min from the old historic town. We loved it here and would go back there again.
The hotel room was bigger than a standard hotel room, and was plenty for 2 people. The bathroom consisted of 2 rooms which was nice when trying to get ready at the same time. The beds were comfy and the view of the ocean was great. We opened our patio door every morning to hear and smell the ocean. What a life! The pool is great and the pool bar offered a great variety of drinks and food. (try the nachos. You wont be disappointed!). Breakfast at the restraunt was good. Be sure to try the waffle with pineapples in cinnamon sauce. Yum!

Aloha, We’re glad we could offer you an escape from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Turtle Bay is away from the tall buildings and miles of cement, yet we take pride in offering several activities, events and restaurants for our visitors to enjoy. We’re also blessed to be located on the fabled North Shore which is legendary in itself. We hope to have the honor of a return visit in the future. Mahalo for the perfect rating on Trip Advisor.

The hotel is located in one of the most amazing and beautiful areas of Hawaii, the view is breath taking. I liked how you can have an amazing snorkeling experience right there, at your hotel. The breakfast buffet is one of many reasons why I would want to go back to the hotel. We where lucky enough to have a whale watching right from our dinner table infront of the beach. The only think about the hotel is that the rooms need some renovation and updating. But the overal service at the hotel is great.

Aloha, We are blessed to be located on the fabled North Shore and to be visited by Humpback Whales every winter/spring. We’re sure you made wonderful memories watching the gentle giants. We’re glad you enjoyed our spectacular location, the delicious breakfast buffet at North Shore Kula Grille and the great service we provided. We hope you can visit us again in the near future. Mahalo.

We staycationed at Turtle bay for a weekend conference. The room was large with 2 queen beds. However, the balcony was really small. Only one chair could fit out there, but we just kept our sliding door open, which was still really nice, as we were on the top floor overlooking the ocean. The room was very clean, and the staff was friendly. They are doing a huge renovation, so I'm sure it will be even better the next time. It was great. If you're looking for a quiet place away from the hustle of Waikiki, this is the place to go.

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the ocean. If you want to watch the sun set as for a west facing room.

Only go to Turtle Bay if you want a relaxing get away. This was our 2nd trip to Oahu and since we had already done the tourist sites, it was nice to just chill and enjoy island life. All of the employees at the resort are very nice. Our room was "partial ocean view" but other than a couple palm trees there was a full view. The higher level rooms have a balcony which would have been nice. They are remodeling and we got one of the older rooms....it was nice and big, but disappointingly run down for the price and had the most uncomfortable matress.

Hotel amenities.... Skip the pool bar... everything was WAY overpriced and the food sucked. Olas and Lei Leis have much better food at better prices. Lei Leis has the best ahi poke appetizer for $14... big enough for a meal. Surfer Bar was just okay... typical bar food and prices. Food is more affordable in town.

For a resort the gift store, surf store and pro shop were not too badly priced (about $5 more than retail on most items). There are great deals on golf for hotel guest. A weekly club rental was only $55 for the week... however you have to REQUEST the newer clubs or they will give you crap clubs. The website oversells the club newness and selection.

Nearby... (not much). There is nothing walking distance, but there are some great finds within a 10-20 min drive. Haleiwa: shopping, shaved ice. Nothing opens until 11am and closes around sunset. Cute town to walk through. Kahuku: Giovanni's shrimp shack, Kahuku Grill (delicious cheese burger). Shark's Cove Grill $7 breakfast... eggs, ahi and rice (delicious).
Shark's Cove has great snorkeling for free... get there early bc it fills up and don't take anything valuable... high theft area is not a joke. Waimea Bay is nice to swim, picnic or lay out. Waimea Falls $15 for the paved high up to a really small waterfall, won't miss anything if you skip it.

Room Tip: Not sure if you can request a room in one of the renovated sections, but do if you can.

Dinner on the sand and the private cottages make this place work for all. Be sure to stop at Ted's bakery for breakfast and/or lunch. Area packed with tourists trying to watch world class surfers.
Main building is an architectural disaster (when it was a Hilton!?!?), that has been opened up a few years ago with glass expanse.
Beats all other hotels because of relatively remote location.

Room Tip: Cottage for sure if budget can handle.

We are so happy we chose stay here on the North Shore! Beautiful, we would go back tomorrow if we could!
The North Shore of Oahu has always been a dream destination for both my husband and I and it totally lived up to our expectations, Hawaii really is paradise.
The room was very comfortable, with a beautiful view of the beach, lovely to open the shutter every morning to appreciate the sunrise through the huge french windows.
We booked room only but wished we had booked b & b as although excellent the breakfast buffet was a little expensive.
The choice of restaurants on site was great, from snacks at the pool bar to full 3 course meal, all of the food was excellent. I would recommend getting out and about too though!
Must do's: Giovanni's Shrimp Truck, Rent a jeep, Waimea Nature Reserve, Shaka glass bottom kayaking to see the sea turtles, Polynesian Cultural Centre Luau, Doors off extreme helicopter ride, Pearl Harbour, Snorkelling and swimming is also a must!
Don't bother: Waikiki- we ventured here after Pearl Harbour and turned round to go back to the North Shore almost immediately- overrated, far too busy and commercialised.

Room Tip: Due to the shape of the hotel I believe all of the rooms have a nice view but by choosing a room on...

Aloha and congratulations on your new life together! It sounds like you had an amazing honeymoon snorkeling, taking an extreme helicopter ride and embarking on the Shaka Kayaks glass bottom expedition. We’re glad you also had the chance to explore the North Shore and the island of Oahu. We hope to have the honor of a return visit in the near future. Mahalo.
