“Great location, marginal food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We have been to Turtle Bay 2X with our 2 kids. The first visit we stayed in the Villas and I would highly recommend those for anyone traveling with a family. Hit Costco for everything you need and then you won't have to leave for even a meal! This trip, we stayed in the hotel as a suite was actually cheaper than the Villas during Thanksgiving week. I would summarize the overall feel of the suite as dated but it was recently painted and the bed was comfortable! Having said that if you can look beyond the old style of the building itself, the views are spectacular and you almost don't want to leave the room. Pool is nice but a bit cold. Beach amazing. Great for walking. Surf lessons a must. Skip the overpriced food and head to Ted's Bakery or LeiLeis.

Aloha! Mahalo for taking time out of your day to share your experience here at Turtle Bay Resort. We are honored that you would make a return visit and are happy to hear that you enjoy the awesome views and beaches that Turtle Bay has to offer. We are sad to hear that you found our selection of food inadequate. However, we would love for you to return with you family once again! Mahalo!

My wife and I spent two nights here and would have liked to have stayed longer. It is one of the best resorts that I have stayed at in a long time. Exceptional staff, great location and very good
food. In Oahu on vacation, stay here, you will not be disappointed!!!

From the moment that we arrived, each and every staff that we encountered from Terry, Diane and Aunty (Chief Concierge?)...they all counld not do more to make our Anniversary stay a memorable one. The genuine Hawaiian Hospitality was clearly the Motto for this property. I would recommend anyone to take advantge of this unique off key location to soak up some R&R...
I would definitely return...
Thank you for the gift basket and champgane for our stay!!!

Room Tip: Try the Jr suites facing the main pool area for an amazing sunsets...

If your looking to be on a quiet side of hawaii and don't want to be in grand central station its a good place to go. hotel is average though but most hotels in hawaii as far as rooms go are nothing to brag about. It is a big room. The one restaurant 21 degrees north - wow really good dinner. if you get the breakfast package its decent as well for food. Leonardos wasn't too bad either. The beach though, isn't that great. Very rocky, not much space on it for chairs etc. The grounds are immaculate though. Great place for photos. The north shore is nice versus the hustle and bustle of oahu.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Trip Advisor. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the food and our awesome location. We are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the beach. We actually have 5 miles of coastline so if you like walking you can explore our trails in either direction and even find your own private beach that you might like better! We would love for you to come and stay with us again, and maybe this time find your own private beach! Mahalo!

This place could not be further from romantic if it tried. You pull up to a huge industrial reception area, where the staff are unfriendly. We were sent to our ocean cottage with no offer of help for our luggage and were told there was a special parking area for the cottages. The parking is a the end if the cottages furthest from the main building. As our cottage was near the main building it was the most ridiculously long walk with suitcases. The cottage was large and you could see the ocean. There is no beach infront of them just rocks. The verandah at the back of the cottage with chairs doesn't get any real sun so the only place you can sit out is by the pool or the main public beach. The main building is artificial and tacky! The pool area is 100 times worst. There the worst sun loungers with no padding and kids running around screaming. This is not a romantic hotel. The food was terrible. One night we went to the beach restaurant and waited 40 mins for our starters. The next night we went to the Italian and my lasagne was stone cold in the middle.
This is a tacky horrible hotel not the romantic honeymooners that it is painted to be!!!

My husband and I stayed at this resort for 3 nights November 12-15th, and had a most amazing stay there.
We booked the hotel online (via expedia), and did lots of research about the Hotel activities beforehand (the hotel has a terrific website complete with webcams).

We had a 5th floor king-bedded room overlooking the swimming/snorkeling beach. Honestly every room in this hotel must have an amazing view. They either face the beach (all on one side) or on the swimming pool and surfing beach on the opposite side.
I had requested feather king-sized pillows in advance and was very happy that they had these for us (so I am not sure if king pillows are standard here?). The bedding was of excellent quality too, complete with duvet.
The room was large with lots of places to put your things, large closet, desk (with recycling - yay!), iPod dock radio, in room safe, mini fridge, coffee station and even had two sinks!!
My only room complaint was that the balconies on the beach facing side were slightly smaller, so only had one chair on them. We pulled a desk chair out, but it got wet from the rain.

We enjoyed morning walks each morning - one side to the horse stables, and the other side adjacent to the beach and golf course.

The pool has a kids slide and two hot tubs where you can sit and watch the sun set (usually they have live music at the poolside bar then too).

There are lots of shops on site and all the restaurants were great. We unfortunately, only went to Lei-Lei's on our last night, because we wish we'd eaten there the entire stay!! Amazing food and great service by Jamie. Definitely go to Lei-Lei's.

The only negative about the hotel is that it is isolated and there really is nothing to do at night in the area. Surfer Bar is okay, if there is something going on. Lei-Lei's also happening, but other than that, expect to have a quiet, romantic stay!

So many more positives about this resort and their amazing friendly staff in each and every department........! Again, we truly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to return.

Room Tip: All rooms have good ocean views - Choose a beach facing room (over the swimming/snorkeling beach) or...

This was our third trip to Turtle Bay. We like it. It’s true a few improvements could be made, but we overlook these small shortcomings. What we focus on is the beautiful location, friendly staff, cleanliness, and relaxing environment. This place is a world away from Waikiki Beach. We had a deluxe ocean view room which overlooked the pool. The rooms on this side have much larger balconies. And we like the view—the ocean, the sunset, the pools and the hills. Try to get a room on floors 4, 5 or 6 for the best view (this takes much of the roof out of view). Our room was over the porte-cochere, so there was more activity and noise. Also, the delivery trucks made some noise in the mornings. For the South Wing only, I would request a room closer to the elevators. Each evening, there was free entertainment by the pool—music, fire dancers, hula, etc. The on-site washing machines allow us to pack lighter. I believe each room has its own wireless router, but the web pages seemed slow to load at times (this may have been my laptop). The interior could use a facelift, but if you dial down your expectations one notch, you will not be disappointed.
