“The best eats.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We stayed just walking distance away, our neighbor told us to try it, my wife will usually stay away from mom and pop shops, but the food was outstanding. During our 2 week stay we ate there 5 times, even our son broughts his army buddies to eat there after his first visit. Portions sizes are great, might want to consider two people for one order.

“Thriving local stop near north shore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

We stopped here while driving around the Island near north shore after it was recommended by a local resident. What a great find! This is a small, very informal place with inside and outside seating. It is located at the end of a small strip mall. Upon arrival we stood in line to place our order and receive a number. The employees were enthusiastic and friendly. We ordered the fried chicken plate which was served with two scoops of white rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. The servings are enormous and could feed two people. Papa Ole's is a distance from Waikiki, probably about a 45 minute drive, but would be a great stop if you are visiting the north shore, tropical macadamia nut farm, or Kualoa Ranch. The only negative would be the lengthy wait between your order time and when you're order is ready. We waited for about 30 minutes to receive our food. Otherwise this is a great, very local place - quite enjoyable.

“Hidden Delight--Locals Only”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

On the north end of Oahu (near North Shore), about 45 minutes outside Waikiki, hidden away in a shopping strip next door to the local postoffice, is the local eatery. Great fried chicken, delicious sauteed shrimp and mahi mahi, pulehi ribs, and the other usual items that are prepared for locals are available if you are willing to wait. I estimate that the local wait time for your order is about 30 minutes. This place is busy all of the time and is frequented by locals who either dine family style at benches outside or pre-order for take-out (the wait is minimal then since you are just picking up and paying).

If you are driving around the island and happen to be in the Hau'ula area during a meal time I highly recommend this establishment for a taste of the local flavor. You will not be disappointed with the taste and the size of the proportions. Great place for kids. Very family friendly and ultra casual. Parking is readily available in the large parking lot.

“Delicious Hawaiian BBQ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

This place has THE BEST FOOD!!!! You will have to wait a bit for your food, as everything is cooked fresh, but it is worth the wait. The ribs are to die for, the banana and macadamia nut pancakes are delicious and HUGE. Everything we ate was wonderful! Go there and give yourself a real treat-you will want to keep going back

“Da Bomb!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

Very popular local restaurant so expect long waits. Lots of food. The kalbi and pulehu ribs were very good but the garlic chicken was the best! Garlic shrimp not as good as the shrimp at Tita's Grill. Friendly service. Nothing fancy but good value.
