I had the tuna... very, very yummy. Not much seating, but I can't wait to go back nest time in Haleiwa.

We ate at the Grass Skirt Grill for lunch on our way to the airport and were very sad that we had no time to go back again.

I had the shrimp scampi lunch plate--that came with rice and a salad. We got a choice of white or brown rice----which I chose Brown, thinking it might be dry and grainy. Not so---it was WONDERFUL! The best brown rice I've ever had----great texture and nutty flavor. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the sauce was AWESOME---especially over the rice! The salad was simple, but was super fresh with a nice dressing. Having some greens after alot of starches through the week was very nice.

My husband had the Ahi and LOVED it.

The service was fast and efficient. You could tell that they had a sense of pride and urgency in getting their customers taken care of. After we spent almost $100 a piece for a meal the night before at an "award winning" restaurant, we wished we had saved our money and had eaten here every night.

There are some tables both inside and on their front porch---but their food would likely work very well takeout as well.

We travel to Honolulu several times a year for work and each time, we make the trek to the North Shore just to get a salad at Grass Skirt! It's delicious- fresh ingredients, huge portions, wonderful papaya dressing, juicy chicken...That's not to say we haven't sampled their other dishes, too- they're all great and we've never been disappointed. Definitely a 'hole-in-the-wall' feel, but sit outside and you're perfect for people watching! Prices are totally reasonable, too! DEFINITELY go here! (FYI, they close at 6p, so lunch or early dinner are best bets!)

This is our second trip to Hawaii. Our first time, we expected lots of yummy fresh seafood and tropical fruit. We were disappointed that nothing we tried really tasted all that great. We happened to be going along the north shore and decided to try this place based upon the other reviews. It was wonderful, fresh and tasty with quick, friendly service. The prices were quite reasonable - $12.95 for a plate of fish, rice and salad or $7.95 for an ahi burger. They even have hot dogs for the kids, only $2.95. The vegetables tasted soooooo good; after having "plate lunches" with macaroni salad and rice for the past couple of days we were really jonesing for some fresh veggies.

it's a small place, easy to miss if you're not paying attention. It's worth making a u-turn for it, as it's the best food I've had so far on the island.
