“Great way to see plants and of course the waterfall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013 via mobile

If you want to come to do something or learn the culture I would checkout the Polynesian Cultural Center. There was little of what I saw online as far as that goes. One guy was doing weaving at the entrance and there was a display by the waterfall about instruments (which had a piece of bamboo for $45 if you are so inclined). The hawaiian games area was not staffed and no games were available to play.

Pretty much everyone was there to swim at the waterfall which is great but if all you did was take the $6 tram to the waterfall and back you would be missing out on a great collection of fauna.

“flowers and waterfalls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

This is a beautiful place on the North shore, many types of flowers and trees, and you can hike up to the waterfalls, where there is a large pool you can swim in Years ago you could climb on the rocks and dive in, but that has been stopped, and you must wear a life vest to swim there now. There is a lifeguard on duty take your camera !

“Aloha Oe!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Beautiful, tranquil, quiet, clean and green! What more can you ask for!? Great place to hike, meditate, have a picnic, take pictures and a quick dip in the Waimea Falls! One way in, one way out. Parking is limited so come early. Come during week days because it's always crowded in the weekends.

Watch out for peacocks ;)

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

We only had a couple of hours to spend at Waimea Valley, so we choose to go see the waterfall. That was truly an amazing experience. It was a quick hike to falls (there are golf cart rides available for those who need a little help), we choose to go for a quick swim and head back. I wish we would have more time to explore the area.

“Don't miss stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

If you gain any bit of joy from nature you will enjoy this place. I loved this spot. It's a beautiful place to get in exercise and lots of scenery. Educational opportunities and the waterfall, which is crowded, but worth the stop. There are plenty of places to kick back and just relax or just keep wandering around. A bonus is that it is a great place to escape the island heat!
