“Not much to see other than the riders in front of you.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Advertized as a 90 minute trail ride, it took our group the first 20 minutes to get out of the corral. Once on the trail, the one vista you see in their advertizing photo, is pretty much the one vista you have other than fairly uniform vegetation. They talk about taking pictures, but only stopped once (other than for horses to relieve themselves), making it difficult if not impossible to get a decent shot. And, I guess, there was some interpretation along the way, but if you weren't close to the trail guides who were at the front and rear of the string, you couldn't hear anything that was said. It has such a high rating on trip advisor, but we were disappointed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion of the horseback riding tour you took with us. We do strive to have each guest leave with a positive feeling about their trail ride experience, so naturally we are disappointed to learn that you did not. As you note coming for a ride in November it may be that day there was VOG that obscured your views. In the "fall' months our islands often have "kona or variable winds" which can blow in the volcanic haze from Hawaii island, however views into Waimea Valley , and a host of moss, ferns, and trees along side the trail are still visible. Our trails weave in and out of sun filtered forests, valleys and wild fruit orchards....green acres, literally. While we do permit picture taking, this is a ride in motion as stopping the horses with a mixed group of riders may lead to undesirable conditions. As our wranglers offer to take a photo of our guest(s) free of charge, with their own camera I do hope we snapped a nice image of you on horseback.
Best wishes and Happy Trails!

“" Happy Trails completed my vacation "”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

They are so many fun things to do in Oahu, but the most definitely one you can't miss is the Happy Trails horseback riding overlook at North shore. It is the beautiful scenery with a touch of native tree in Hawaii. The employees were nice and friendly, especially my guide " Trish ". All of the horses were very well train, easy to ride and control. I was ride the horse name " Jewel " , she was a lovely horse.

“The Best with the best guides!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Staff treated us with the best humor and information along out ride. Horses are beautiful and very nice. The staff went out of their way to make sure the rider was matched to the horse. Mine even came with power steering and power brakes!!

“A beautiful Hawaiian memory!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

My daughter and I enjoyed a beautiful afternoon ride at Happy Trails yesterday! The horses are beautiful, well-loved and cared-for former polo ponies. The owners and guides obviously love these horses and it shows. No bits are used and the horses were very well-behaved. The trail takes you through a shady, hilly, tree-lined path through natural Hawaiian vegetation with gorgeous views of Waimea Valley below! I highly recommend you visit Happy Trails on your next visit to Oahu!!! Mahalo Robert and Mark! My daughter, Jessi, and I made a beautiful memory!!!

“Happy Trails was definitely worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

My girlfriend and I arrived for a horseback ride to see more scenery in Oahu. The employees were funny and friendly and the horses were very well behaved. Make sure you show your horse who's in control early on. We got to ride in the back of the group and our horses had opportunities to gallop when we fell behind. It was my first time riding a horse and Happy Trails made it a fun experience that was definitely worth trying.
