“Greasy Spoon with ambience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

Well if you don't mind a lot of fat and starch with your local colour, eat here. When you encounter a menu that gives French Fries and Macaroni as its two sides (no substitutes, like perhaps a salad?) that should get some amber lights flashing. My friend ordered the special, fried chicken. It came with a lot of batter and was swimming in a kind of poutine gravy. My grilled fish was overdone and very dry. I went for macaroni over the fries but really missed the veggies, which were non existent. Not very healthy food but a real local flavour. We couldn't figure out why all the locals recommended it over the Paddler, which we enjoyed far more. Perhaps it was because they serve huge portions? One other plus was the fact that you can bring your own bottle.

“Great BBQ Ribs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

Tied for the best dinner with Paddler's Inn. Had a fantastic bbq rib dinner with salad and baked potato. Portions were huge. Service ok. Water tasted a bit of dish soap as did the ice tea. No booze so bring your own bottle if desired. Priced about normal for Molokai.

“Do not understand the good reviews!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

Granted there are not many places to eat on Molokai, but this one gets such good reviews. We We did lunch. Don't. We ordered mahi burgers. Got more bread than fish, the fish was fresh and okay. Came with Ore Ida french fries for $10. You had a choice of french fries or mac salad.. starch or more starch. My husband ordered a Cesar salad $9, as well. He was craving greens. Awful. Iceburg lettuce, some kind of white flavorless cheese, bottled Seven Seas dressing ... simply tasteless and gross. Why don't these people utilize the incredible resources they have ? You can grow anything on this island! There are fresh mangos, papayas, bananas, avocados .. and more! I wanted to eat native! While on Molokai, we rented a cottage and cooked for ourselves. Thank goodness, as this last day lunch was a huge disappointment. And this place came recommended by a local !

“Authentic and tasty!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

Wonderful food! I had the sauteed ono, and my Dad had the steak and bacon-wrapped shrimp. Everything was fabulous, and portions were huge.

The restaurant offers a real range of food--from full plated specials with steak, seafood, and ribs (around $30), to traditional and kid-friendly dishes like a basic hamburger. Prices really reflect what you get (you can get a $10 dinner or a $40 dinner--it's up to you).

This is an authentic restaurant that serves locals and visitors alike, so be ready for a Hawaii- style dining experience. Be ready to sit back and relax. Seat yourself, and wait patiently to be served if the place is busy. Service was friendly and accommodating.

“Special nights”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

Get there early for the prime rib dinner and eat outside if the weather is good. This is a busy place and is not only for tourists. There were locals there as well.
