“Great Plate Lunch!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

We were at Maui Zipline and asked the guides for a plate lunch recommendation... this was it! We went in and saw one of the guides! We had the Shoyu Chicken and Lau Lau and both were fantastic! We had picky eaters (kids) with us and the cheeseburger was decent, but don't get the hot dogs. They have red food dye or something, it was strange. It is like a home kitchen mixed with a roadside stand/market. Friendly people and just good plate lunches. Get that, you'll be glad you did. Our guide did get a turkey sandwich, so probably good too!

“Home cookin island style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

This restaurant is tucked away in a small hole in the mountain side. Small grocery store inside and kitchen in the back, family seemingly there preparing the plates, no seating inside but hey, the picnic tables outside have a spectacular view of the island. Had the pork Lau Lau with salmon poke, with macaroni salad, all around great food, just felt like a home cooked meal, well worth the drive, gem in the mountain side!

“Just really good local food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

They have local favorites, and the portions are generous so be sure to bring your appetite! The faves are Baked Chicken, Hamburger Steak, Shoyu Chicken, and the local favorite, Lau Lau. Rumor has it they grow their own taro leaves that are used to wrap the meat. My daughter likes the Chinese Chicken Salad there. IF you have room for desserts, they've got those too. They're all good. The prices are reasonable, lower than a local sit-down restaurant but they have picnic tables outside with an unobstructed view of Haleakala. Barbara and her crew will ensure a happy opu (stomach). They're located just outside of Wailuku between MP2 and 3 so if you're visiting Iao Valley, Kepaniwai Park, or Maui Tropical Plantation, it's a short drive.

“Onolicious!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This is a lil ol local Mom & Pop place just of the side of the road. Heard about it from a friend and made it a must to stop by. I was with a fellow crew member and we picked up 2 lunch plates. Shoyu chicken and pork lua lua!!! Its was ONO LICIOUS!!! we also got 2 types of desert one was a layered type pudding thingy. Coconut pudding on top of sweet potato on top of a pie crust!! Delicious!!! We also picked a couple of woven bags that are adorned with coconut shell turtles.
The food was enough to feed 4-5 people. We shared it with the rest of our crew members.
Oh the following day we got alot of compliments on our bags. Told them all we got them at Waikapu on 30!!! The hospitality was awesome made us feel like we were family. Love this place!!
