“Great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

Got a tip from the locals on this place and was excellent. Waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was very very good, prices were very fair. Fresh and good portions. I would eat there everyday if we could.

The meals were so good and it was very reasonably priced. Service was perfect. Definitely eat here if you like Thai food and are in the area!

“Good food, nice setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2012

We found out pretty quickly when dining out in Wailuku that ambiance is not something given much importance. Saeng's was the exception, with a very attractive dining area as well as good food.

“#1 favorite restaurant for Maui kama'aina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2012

My partner lives on Maui; I visit as frequently as possible; and first stop after he meets me (or anyone) at the airport is almost always Saeng's. This exquisite little restaurant is our favorite on the island. It's owned by a Laotian family and the first thing you'll experience is the charming young woman who acts as hostess... and server... and cashier... indeed provides all the face-to-face service, always excellent. (Maybe she misses a day once in a while: I saw a review complaining about a cranky man on duty - probably another family member trying to do all the kitchen work as well!) She'll lead you into an exotic, tranquil garden setting where you can breathe the fragrant air while you shelter from the sun or rain; and bring you South Asian food at its best: fresh, light and flavorful. (They seem to hold down the fieriness in deference to the typically unaccustomed palate, but feel free to ask for "hot" and say you really mean it!)

“Great Food Unfriendly Waiter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

Locals love this place so we were excited to give it a try. Took a while to find the restaurant since we were coming from Kihei at night with GPS. Really nice inside with simple decor and well kept garden/courtyard where bathrooms are located. Not fancy at all although we did dress up.
Waiter-older white guy with a pony tail seemed bothered to have us even though the place was empty. Food was excellent although the portions were on the skimpy side. They have red, yellow, and green curry dishes. When we asked the particulars of the different types we were told the colors are different-thanks. They had brown, white and jasmine rice and were dilligent about charging for every scoop if you needed more.
Thai iced tea was great. The thing that bothered me the most was the waiter and the fact they give you no refills on soda despite the fact they are overpriced.
Kitchen was slow but was worth the wait.
Before we left there was a crashing sound outside the restaurant. The waiter said it was probably just one of the customer's cars that parked out front. Evidently the street is narrow and car outside mirrors get nocked off cars on a frequent basis on this location.
