“Great Vietnamese food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

We stopped here after vising the IAO Valley. This was definitely above average Vietnamese food with a large menu. We had salads and typical Vietnamese noodle soups and it was all delicious. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. Service was just a little slow. I think it was because they were very busy. Everyone appeared to be hustling to try to handle all the customers. Parking was pretty limited and I imagine it would be possible to arrive and have trouble parking.

“Excellent food - a great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

The Saigon Cafe is in Wailuku along the road up to the Iao Valley so it makes a good place to stop for lunch coming or going. The food is excellent and the service is friendly. The clay pot rice is a must try. Most of the tables are occupied by locals which is the first clue about the food. Highly recommended.

“Very Fun Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We hiked the Ioa Valley on Feb. 3rd. Took 100 pictures of the park and "the needle" It was a misty morning and the clouds made it a little more eerie. Can you imagine the carnage this sight has seen?

Then I went to the Bailey Museum to take the tour of early island life with white men. My husband stayed in the car to Google Thai places for lunch. He chose Saigon Cafe in Wailuku.

First off, the name tagged onto this Saigon Cafe is "Jennifer's". Not affiliated with the other Saigon Cafe. It is a bit awkward to locate, and on this day, even "awkwarder" because the street was under construction. We thought about parking in the next door apartments stalls with all the tow away signs.... when the Cafe owner came out waving his hands telling us to "park ok there, sure, sure"

I ordered a white wine and it was a nice pour, cold and crisp. Hubby had Singha beer.
We ordered the fresh summer rolls and they were perfect. The rice roll was very elastic, the shrimp and sprouts and mint all very fresh.

And we both chose hot pot. I liked the combination of spices. I thought there was just the right amount of sauce and meat and rice. I very much enjoyed the dish.

Our waiter was funny. He teased the locals as well as us. There was a bush/tree up on the bar with little valentine looking decorations. When I asked our waiter, he said "Valentine? Oh no. Vietnamese New Year" And he brought us candies that children eat for the holiday. Kinda of a gummy plum tasting concoction only kids could love.

We honestly enjoyed ourselves. The staff are great, everything is clean, and the food and drink is great.
We will definitely be coming back to Jennifer's Saigon Cafe next year. Besides, Wailuku turns out is a cute little town. Take a walk before or after lunch. Cute little shops without the high sticker prices. Win-win! Life is good.

“Just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

After a nice hike in Iao Valley we where looking for a close nice place to eat. We found this place....We wish we would have drove a little farther and had some better food and better service. Service was slow, server didn't understand english. So didn't do any good to ask him questions. Food was just ok, it was over priced for the poor quality. Go somewhere else.

“Great food, reasonable prices, great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

This is a great restaurant. Hard to find but worth the look. The staff is very friendly and the food is very well prepared, fast and reasonably priced. One of our favorite restaurants in Maui.
