“Great Food, Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

My wife and I hardly ever eat pizza back home in Canada, but we went to Porto Pizza three times in the two weeks we spent in Maui. Casual, comfortable atmosphere. We loved their food: the salads, bruschetta, and roasted veggie pizza, pleasantly washed down with Big Swell IPA (Maui Brewery). The pizza was superb and reasonably priced, and the waitresses were very friendly and efficient. Their connection with the Pacific Whale Foundation is an added plus.

“Very good pizza, difficult location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2012

This restaurant is located in the same center as the Maui Ocean Center. It's open for lunch and dinner. We went there for dinner with a coupon from the Pacific Whale Foundation. The pizzas and salads are good -- they could use a little more flavor in the tomato sauce, but we gobbled up everything anyway. When we went they did not have a liquor license so don't expect any beer or wine with your pizza. But the lemonade was delightful! A great place to go after seeing the whales or going from Lahaina to another part of the island (or vice-versa).

“Great Pizza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2012

We had the Margherita pizza which was delicious. It was reasonably priced and enough to share for two people. The server forgot my drink order. Nice seating area in the courtyard.

“Crazy great pizza, for a good cause.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2012

I'm from Boston, with its "North End" (its "Little Italy"), so I know great pizza from just good pizza. And I'm not one of those reviewers who gives all of their reviews either five stars or one star. This place was built to serve artisan pizza, and they've gotten it exactly right. I had read a lot about Pizza Paradiso in Honokowai (north Kaanapali), but to be honest it wasn't particularly good. Porto's pizza was what we were looking for - delicious in all the ways a pizza should be: perfect crust, locally sourced ingredients, generously sized, tasty cheese blend, etc. If you like Hawaiian pizza (usually pineapple and ham), this place steps it up a big notch: Instead of ham they use locally farmed smoked pulled pork - delicious! They also serve soups, salads, and appetizers. The decor is casual yet classy and perfectly suits the place. Best of all, Porto is part of the Pacific Whale Foundation organization, so all of the proceeds go to research, conservation and education. It's right next to the Maui Ocean Center aquarium, so you can take in both at the same time. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere in West Maui.

“It's the best pizza I've ever had!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2012

From the Maui Time, "Their artisan flame fired pizzas are the shining glory of their menu. Kilgore (their chef) says they use authentic semolina flour ground in an Oahu mill and make everything from the focaccia to the breadcrumbs in their meatballs from scratch. She told me (the reporter) she tweaked the pizza dough recipe 22 times to get it to the perfect crispy-on-the-bottom-but-still-chewy consistency she wanted. Their handmade pomodoro sauce is created with organic tomatoes, which provide the best flavor. Kilgore says she chooses local organic farmed goods as much as she can."
I can't say it any better...
