“Clean, comfy and cheap!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2012

The whole staff at Nortshore Hostel is awesome! The place is clean, it's situated right in the middle of everything there is to do on Maui and it's cheap compared to other hostels or hotels! I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a calm place to stay.

We used the Northshore as a stopover once arrived in Maui.It is very basic and shabby, but clean.I've certainly stayed in better hostels on the islands. I'd recommend for a one night stay, but wouldn't want to stay longer.

This hostel is nice. Not the best I have seen, but may be the best in Maui. Very clean but it smells weird in our room (corrected after a few hours of opened windows and the working fan). It's central to many attractions, but the location isn't a good looking one. If you like to be near beaches, it's not for you. Overall a good place to stay.

My stay at the North Shore Hostel was a was a wonderful experience from my first encounter starting with the reservation onward, This place is a textbook example of how to run a hostel. If the staff haven't written the book on how to run a hostel they aught to. I have stayed at 5 star hotels( when work was paying for it) that didn't have their act together as well. The staff was always professional, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to accomidate. They even drove me down to the surf shop to rent a wind surfer, in addition to later driving me to the airport.

The facility in general was clean, spacious and well maintained. The bath facilities were spotless, nicely finished and plentiful. One of the neat things about this hostel is the variety sleeping quarters. They offer anything from a dorm to a semi private or even a private room.

At the desk they have put together Binders with cataloged information to answer ANY question a visitor my have about their stay on the island. They also have scooters for rent at the cheapest rates on the island. I have stayed at numerous hostels around the world and this rates as probably the best run hostel I have stayed at.

PS: When you arrive the staff will download about a 10 min. orientation on you that will answer 99.999% of your questions. listen-up! They don't like to be interrupted and they don't like to repeat themselves. John T.

The hostel is very clean and is great to hang around and see West Maui from this centreal location. The hostel has a great atmosphere but is also quiet at night. Great for a budget traveller who wants to enjoy meeting other's but also wants some quiet time late at night. It's centrally located with easy transportation and a well lit free 12hr carpark opposite the hostel !

Wonderful hostel that attracts good, friendly, considerate people.of all ages. The staff was great - friendly (funny - Scott) and very helpful. This hostel has an "extended family" feel to it. Super clean bathrooms, quiet at night, great location to public transportation. I highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: If you are friendly and out-going, the dorm will be great for you. If you snore - get a single room...
