A local guide suggested this was the spot immediately so we took the adventure up and on the whim of a quick call and amazing quote on a private room we were checking in and settling down.
Our room was neat, tidy and clean! Professional presentation everywhere.
Public bathrooms and showers were expected but cleaner than most places.....but it did still need cleaned due to our late check-in we assumed but were grateful for the seemingly unlimited supply of hot water.
Joining the crowd everyone was in merriment and a cheerful mood for the evenings festivities and welcomed us like we had been there forever. Great People, Great Environment, Great Energy. HAPPY DAY!

Thank you very much Banana Bungalow! We will for sure return!!!

This is a pretty awesome hostel in Maui albeit a little remote. The staff there were great, helpful and friendly. Free tours available all day of the week, just make sure you wake up and sign up for it. Common areas are good to meet fellow travelers/backpackers. Very laid back with good vibes. Highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Always check with front desk staff. Ask for a lower bunk bed if possible.

I want to tell the world. We had the most fun at The Banana Bungalow. The entire time was the greatest experience to call homebase on maui. Its got friendly laid back atmosphere and outstanding facilities. Many rooms to choose from at perfect reasonable prices. A great kitchen and indoor and outdoor community areas to relax and do your thing. Couches chairs tables plenty of gfi elec. Charging outlets for your phone laptop etc. From two person hammocks to a well kept hot tub two markets with in walking and on bus route. I give this hostel five ☆☆☆☆☆ alot of fun meeting world travelers and going on the tours with everybody. We later rented a car and found we were centrally located to roam about the island. Special thanks to the manager Azi for all the great advice and making our stay at The Banana Bungalow a pleasant one. We can hardly wait to come and stay again. Highly recommended if you plan to visit Maui. Mahalo Nui Loa.

If you remember one thing from this review remember this, The Banana Bungalow, located in Wailuku, is happening right now. Rain, shine, it simply does not matter. The spirits of the staff who stay there burn brighter than any star ever could, our sun included. They treat the property like a temple to Dionysus, and they will treat you like the pilgrim you are.

Rooms range from swanky to communal, bathrooms and showers are beyond functional (bring your own soap), and the activities, oh my the activities. Every day there is something new and exciting, totally free as long as you remember to tip the drivers what you can. If you're reading this you know about the Friday keggers, where the cost of an cup is a smile. Your going to be climbing mountains and going on whale watching trips with your new friends and family.

Now lets get down to the downers. The pool table doubles as a dancing stage, but don't worry because the felt is still 99% intact. Kitchen closes around quiet time at 10 pm (everyone has neighbors people), so keep emergency booze in your room, bring a cooler if you want a cold one after hours. The Safeway is just outside a comfortable walking range, but the city of Wailuku has an atmosphere worth strolling through once or twice.

All in all I give it 9/10, 8.675309 to be exact but I rounded up cause there cool enough.

Room Tip: Be careful climbing into the top bunks, the ladders creek.
