“Family tradition to visit Polli's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

This is our 6th time in Maui and fortunately we discovered Polli's our first time. It is now a family tradition to visit Polli's at least once every time we are in Maui. The food is excellent and a great value. Endless chips and homemade fresh salsa. At the end of our meal they even gave extra chips and a container for the salsa that was left over. The fish taco is delicious. My husband always orders the chicken chimichangas, and leaves groaning because it is so filling, but so delicious that he can't stop eating. The waitress we had today was awesome. My son has autism and is therefore very particular about his food. She picked up on this and was careful to ask questions about everything she brought him to make sure it was just as he liked it. That is an extra special touch I have never experienced before. Our whole family loves Polli's and will always come back!

“A welcome find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Our party of four decided to visit Makawao after checking out the Iao Needle. After the shops in town we figured it was best to get some some food before our drive back to Ka'anapali. We were intrigued by this funky little place with the "Come inside and eat or we'll both starve" sign out front. Well this place is FUNky and fun. We waited on the front porch for 15 min. for our table and while we waited 4 or 5 other groups also tried to get in. Popular place I thought to myself. After we were seated by our very friendly hostess we waited only a reasonable five min. before our server came and took our drink and meal orders. At this time we had a chance to check out the layout and decor of this quaint diner. Peppers both illuminated and not lined the ceiling lending a festive Mexican vibe. A tiny bar with about five stools lined the back of the restaurant, where the bartender was a whirl dishing out one drink order after another. Our Margaritas were delicious but nothing compared to the food. Fantastic and HUGE portions, easily enough for two meals. Needless to say, we were very happy to find this liitle gem in the middle of "nowhere".

“Don't pass this place without going in”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

While visiting Makawao recently, I passed by Polli's without going in. On getting to the corner again (it's a small town) out group decided to stop in. " Let's give it a try" was the consensus. We had to wait for a table to open up. It was a short wait; and well worth it. Locals, families, young and old, all having a good time, great food and service. Do yourself a favor and make it a point to go in the FIRST time you get to the corner. It's a tradition. Make it one of yours.

“Happy find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

One day we decided to drive up into the "high country". We came upon the interesting little community of Makawao. Lots of boutique shop, a glass blower and a place for lunch we will certainly return to. Polli's is in the style of a no frills Mexican Cantina. The food was great, beer was good and the service was very friendly. Obviously a favorite local hangout.

“Yummy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Very good food and lots of it! The place fills up fast so get there early or be prepared to wait. They do have a bar so you can have a drink while waiting if you want. The service was fast but not so very friendly, they were too busy to interact too much. Prices were good considering we had enough for 2 meals or we could have shared.
