“Great Hike in Maui!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2009

This is our group's second hike with Randy Warner of Maui Hiking Safaris and again it was a wonderful hike through the Maui Rainforest. It was a real hike with rock-hopping and wading across the river several times. The two 12 year olds in our group loved it. Randy brings lots of good snacks, water and day packs and is very safety conscious. We are a group of Masters Swimmers who will return to Maui again and definitely call Randy to go on another hike.

“OMG!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2009

Our hiking trip with Randy was truly the highlight of the vacation. This adventure allowed us to see Hawaii from an extremely different perspective than any other. It was great to get off the beaten path of just being a tourist and experience the true essence of the island. Our group consisted of 5 couples and everyone agrees that Maui Hiking Safaris would be on our TO-DO list on every return trip to Hawaii. Of all the photos that were taken on our trip, everyone was most intrigued by those from the hike.

Randy was so attentive and shared with us a wealth of knowledge often pointing out and naming vegetation. We all may have gone out as clients but we came back friends.

Thanks so much Randy! WE LOVE YOU!!!

“A Unique and Unforgettable Hiking Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2009

Loving the outdoors, on our first trip to Hawaii my boyfriend and I wanted to make sure we had the opportunity to explore the beauty of Maui through hikes. Although self-guided exploration on the island is possible, it is sometimes difficult to navigate what is off limits and where the treasures are hidden. Maui Hiking Safaris was one of the highlights of our trip. Randy takes great care of his hikers and is a font of information. He makes sure everyone is well equipped with water, snacks and lunch (included on all-day hikes - which I highly recommend) and as you hike will fill you in on all the nature that surrounds you. Whether it's pointing out an edible fruit or giving you the history of the land you're walking on, Randy's knowledge will resonate with you for the remainder of your trip. If we ever go back, we'll be sure to call on Randy to lead a hike through another part of Maui.

P.S. - As someone who does not like crowds or big tourist groups, Maui Hiking Safaris are limited in number. Seeing what some tour groups can look like plowing through parts of Maui, hiking with Randy with just another family was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience we greatly valued.

“Great hike but ask questions ahead of time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2009

We went on a half-day hike with Randy, who is a one-man operation for Maui Hiking Safaris, into the West Maui mountain area and the Iao Needle. Randy is an excellent guide who was greatly concerned with everyone's safety, including our 8-year-old and 6-year-old. The only caveat is that we did not fully expect to be crossing a stream in waist-high-deep water, which was a bit hairy at times for people and especially our youngest one. Randy was great at traversing the stream and helping us because he knew the topography of the stream (a fast-moving one), but I would strongly encourage people to ask ahead of time exactly how much water contact will be involved on your particular hike. Randy does give you the option of not crossing the stream, but at the cost of having to wait 90 minutes for the hiking party to return. Overall, however, a wonderful and adventurous hike that we would strongly recommend.

“We all had a great time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2009

This was a really fun day for all of us. We ranged in age from 7 to 44 and every one of us really enjoyed this hike. We went to three different spots and each one unique and beautiful. The kids really liked the last one because you could get into the waterfall and sit in a tiny cave behind the sheer. Randy was an excellent guide!
