The Royal Lahaina is apart of the Ka'anapali Resort precinct, as such it is somewhat out of the way of Lahaina, however there are plenty of cabs and a shuttle bus that will take you into town. Amongst this precinct is Whalers Village which has plenty of shops, along with the nearby Fairway Shops.
On arrival at the hotel, check in was fairly straight forward and for a charge which was nearly 50% off, we were upgraded from our Ocean View room to an Ocean Front room in the tower. As we had to wait for the room to be ready, we were given a complimentary drinks voucher.
We had a room on level 4, which was basically above the Ocean Terrace restaurant. Personally if you want an Ocean Front room, go for anything above Level 8. We found out it is fairly noisy being on the 4th Floor. But not unbearable.
Walking into the room there is a bench/ basin/ fridge/ wardrobe to the right of the entry way and further past the basin/ bench is the bathroom. As usual it is tiny being only a toilet and a shower opposite. However even with this apparent tiny bathroom, there is still plenty of room in there for what is needed. The shower worked excellent and supplies to it were replenished very well daily.
Doing forward in the entry way, you are greeted with a king size bed with bedside tables and lamps either side and plenty of space for luggage. A good size desk holds the generous sized television and a small working desk along with lamp.
The bed is fairly comfortable and 5 pillows are supplied. I found I could comfortably sleep of a night with 2.
A small balcony along with outdoor setting was provided and was pleasant to sit out there with a cold drink watching the sunset of an afternoon.
Being on the western side, the sliding wooden shutters didn't offer too many issues with the morning sun, but if you didn't line them up properly you could notice light coming through.
Housekeeping were great, never an issue and the room appearance was good. Air-Conditioning was fantastic as well.
Would I recommend it? Yes. However just be aware that if you want a variety of food, be prepared to go to Whalers Village or Lahaina. Taxi into Lahaina was roughly $18US.
