“Loved the Noelani”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2006

We have just spent 10 days at the Noelani Condo's in Maui. This is NOT a resort - so if you want all the amenities that a resort offers - it's not for you. However, if you prefer to be in a smaller venue - the Noelani is perfect. All condo's have an ocean view - we were lucky enough to be in #101 - which is ground floor with a great lanai. We overlooked rocks and saw sea turtles feeding every morning and evening. You can sit on the rocks and watch them or even go snorkelling with them! We have 2 kids 9 and 7 and they had a blast - there are 2 pools there - be warned during the day most people go out - but after dinner was the favorite pool time for the kids. The condo's are extremely well equiped with full maid service every other day if you stay more than 6 days - our condo had washer, dryer, dishwasher and even snorkel equipment and cooler! Bruce - the concierge was very knowledgeable about local tours and trips and was very aware that we had young kids - talk to him before you go - the number is on the website - he really gave us a lot of good info. There are plenty of good restaurants around and you are ideally situated for this coast (further North than Laheina and Ka'anapali - so you don't battle the traffic!). Take a snorkelling boat tour on the Lani Kai and you will not be disappointed - the staff were awesome and sooo friendly. This is an awesome place and I would highly recommend it for couples and families with kids (regardless of age).

We just got back from spending a week at the Noelani Condo Resort, Unit #214, and we couldn't have been happier. This was a studio unit, but it was more than enough space for a couple w/o children, and came equipped with absolutely everything we needed to be self-sufficient when we didn't feel like trekking out for meals. The beach chairs, beach towels and cooler were a big plus, too, for the times we spent at nearby beaches. The atmosphere at the complex is very friendly, and everyone tended to congregate around the pool/grill/bar area around 5pm, put Hawaiian music on the outdoor sound system, fire up the BBQ grills and watch the inevitably gorgeous sunset. We also discovered that large numbers of honu (green sea turtles) come in close the shoreline in front of the Noelani property at sunset and sunrise, which was also a treat to watch. The breakfast orientation when you first arrive is very helpful (we had Jeremy, not Bruce) with lots of good tips for navigating the nearby areas. True, there is no sandy beach right out front, but you'll need a car on Maui anyway and some of the best beaches in the world are a short drive away. My only suggestion, as an earlier reviewer noted, would be to upgrade the WiFi to be useful inside the units. But that was a minor thing, and we would definitely stay here again if revisiting Maui!!

We (4 adults, 2 children) spent a week at Noelani Condominium Resort in late June.

Pros: The location was great, nice and quiet, and right on the water. The condo (a 3 BR/2.5 BA unit) was equipped with everything we needed (dishes, plenty of towels, inside and outside seating) and was large enough to easily accommodate us. We especially liked the two large lanais that couldn't have been closer to the water. Check-in was friendly and efficient. Although the parking lot was small with very narrow spaces, we always found a place to park. The pool area was nice and clean and never too busy when our kids wanted to swim. There were several restaurants and shops within walking distance. Traffic right outside the resort was not bad at all.

Cons: Our unit (302) was a lot more worn and dated than I had expected from the Web pictures/video clip of two other 3BR/2.3BA units. The cabinets were pretty old and chipped (especially in the bathrooms). The kitchen had not been deep-cleaned in a while (outside of the dishwasher, top of fridge, fan blades were filthy). Two of the bedrooms faced the walkway and were located right at the stairwell. With only screens for windows, there was a lack of privacy and, more importantly, a serious noise problem, especially with the lower-level bedroom. It was impossible to sleep after 5:30am or before 11:30pm due to people walking by - even if they didn't talk (although they usually did). We were informed of the quiet hours at check-in, and it is mentioned in the literature that people shouldn't talk in the hallways at night. I think the staff needs to be more adament about enforcing quiet hours in the hallways.

Beach: We only went to the beach near the resort once (small beach with seaweed, but not very busy) and drove to Kapalua beach (great for snorkeling and swimming; just a few miles up the road) the rest of the time.

After a week at Noelani, I was really sleep-deprived. Even though our week on Maui was overall very enjoyable, I would not stay at Noelani again.

Aloha! We are happy to announce that Condo #302 has been fully renovated - new kitchen, baths, carpet, beds etc. Guests are now very happy and we have posted new signage to keep hallway noise down during quiet hours. Come see for yourself! Noelani is No Ka Oi - the best!

We stayed at the Noelani Condo Resort for a long awaited vacation in June of 2006. WOW, what a GREAT place. Each condo is right on the water. I've never seen anything so close to the beautiful ocean. One downside is that there isn't a sandy beach right in front of the property just rocks but that actually turned into a plus as we had fewer crowds to deal with. Plenty of world renowned beaches within minutes of the condo. Our unit, #116 was ideal. It was stocked with all we needed.

We enjoyed sitting by the pool (there are two) and watching the fantastic sunsets. One of the previous writers mentioned a problem with the Jacuzzi tub. It worked great for us.

Bruce the concierge was awesome. He comes across a little strong but his recomendations were great. He even got us onto a sunset cruise at the last minute by pulling some strings.

Will we return to Noelani? In a heartbeat! Book early as this quaint location fills up quickly.

We stayed at the Noelani in June 2006. It is amazing how close you are to the water. Leave the sliding door open and you can hear waves crashing....and watch the sunset.....beautiful!!!! Although there is no access directly to the beach there is a small beach right next door. The atmosphere is tranquill and the staff is helpful. My only improvement would be to have the property update the WIFI internet access so you can use your computer in your room and not just by the pool. We would definitely stay there again!

My wife and I stayed at the Noelani in West Maui for six nights. Because we booked so close to our travel dates, we had to switch rooms 1/2 way through our stay, but that was OK, as we switched from a studio next to the main street (but there wasn't much traffic at night and we still had an ocean view) to a seaside one bedroom. Both were clean and well stocked with the necessities.

The only draw back is, there may be one parking space for each unit, but the parking spaces are tight and difficult to get into. We had a small car, but it was still tight. But, what are ya gonna do when land is at a premium.

We got a little tired of the 5 mile or so drive to town, but then we looked at South and East Maui, and decided we had the best location on the island! There was less traffic, fewer people on the beach and the units we were in were very comfortable. The last unit we were in was 40 feet from the ocean, however, there is no beach in front of the units, only big rocks. You can walk to a small beach.

We would go back there without a second thought.

We stayed at the Noelani condos over the Labor Day weekend. I opted for the Studio mainly because I had four days on the Island and was planning to do a lot of sight seeing. But, if somebody is planning to spend more time inside I would definitely recommend the Studio Deluxe for its better view.

The sunsets were spectacular... great view of the Molakia with the sun disappearing behind it. Early morning snorkeling right in front of the resort is nice too... good turtle viewing spot.... in the afternoon the sea gets a little rough.

Great location, north of Lahina and very close to Ka'anapali Beach. Would defiantly stay here again!

P.S. I agree with the previous reviewer - Bruce, the concierge, is a bit aggressive about getting you to his intro session, but it is absolutely worth attending... he gives out some very useful info, which can mean the difference between a good and a great trip. I booked the Molokini snorkel trip with him and his recommendation was spot on.
