“My Maui dreams at Noelani”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

If you want a no hassle, calm and relaxing place to stay while you are running around beautiful Maui, Noelani is the place. Walk out to your lanai and you are less than fifty feet from the ocean where you can see to the west the island of Molakai and to the south west Lanai. You can watch the sea turtles [dozens of them] munching on the algae growing on the rocks and when they get tired, to the south end of the property, they pull themselves out of the sea to rest and sunbathe like the rest of us.

Swim your laps in one of two pools [one biggest one heated!] and then relax in the hot tub between the two pools. Three barbecues [two propane fired] with a cooking table are right by the cabana with an ice machine for all to use.

The resort has weekly free maitai gatherings along with lei making classes that allow visitors to meet and visit with others informally. If you are new to the island or even a return visitors, the conceirge Bruce can provide needed information and book for the best prices on the island. Working with him every morning at 0830hrs really takes alot of the pain out of getting your activities organized...not to mention his weather forecasts to do your outdoor activities the best way.

The staff in all areas were just ready to help in any way. Then when you compare the prices...WOW!!

Room Tip: The best room value for two are the studios but for the small difference in price, I would go for th...

We stayed at Noelani in April for 9 days in a ground level studio condo and had a terrific stay! Our room was nicely updated (did not expect granite countertops for the price paid) and had everything we needed. We were pleasantly surprised that our King bed was actually comfortable and we enjoyed the wonderful breezes coming through the room in the night. The 'noise' from the road was minimal and we rarely noticed it. There are several restaurants nearby as well as a couple of grocery stores. We used the outdoor gas grills for dinner and lunch a few times and enjoyed eating on our patio. We were also able to see several turtles swimming and even found one nearby on the rocks - amazing!

We attended Bruce's morning class introducing you to the island and highly recommend it. He goes over all the typical tourist activities and has great advice on which day to do what, etc. There was absolutely no pressure to buy anything and he took his time and made sure to answer all questions.

We also attended a mai-tai party and the catered BBQ dinner night and loved both. My husband and I shared the combo plate of BBQ (chicken, pork, sausage) with 3 sides for only $15. Great value and beautiful dinner sitting by the pool.

Our flight was an evening flight and we were able to purchase a late check out for 50% of the daily rate. It was nice to hang out at the pool and have dinner in the condo one last time rather than being homeless most of the day.

We loved our stay and have no complaints. We are amazed at the value offered by Noelani (especially with AAA discount) and met several other very nice couples. We will definitely be back someday!

We stayed in Unit #202 In May 2012. Beautiful view and very comfortable unit. We could go out on our balcony and watch sea turtles feeding. But... the DVD player didn't work, the microwave oven only worked if you held the door shut, and there was construction going on outside our bedroom window which we were not warned about. And the building is close enough to the street that from the bedroom, you hear traffic going by. It's not loud, but not what you want to hear on vacation. Not a bad visit, but could have been better.

Room Tip: Make sure the appliances work and no one is going to be hammering or sawing near your unit.

We were in C-219, which is the far right corner condo of a two-story building. By being on the corner, we were away from the pool, and had an amazing view of the ocean and Molokai...amazing sunsets. It has a REAL bed (so many have a sofa bed or a Murphy bed, a nice kitchen (so many have a corner they call a kitchen, and the parking lot is next to you (but not obnoxious). We felt like we were in our own house rather than a condo building with maybe 12 condos. The pool for this condo building does not seem to be heated, but the next building to the left is, and it's also part of Noelani...this unit features the BEST view of the sea turtles that visit the area, and next to the parking lot is a small beach that is nice...also, there is a park bench on the edge of the property, near the beach that is great for just sitting and watching the sea. This condo is rented by Maui Lodging Properties, whose email is mauilodging.com
In this room, you see a bit of grass below you, then the rocks and sea...to the left is the pool, rarely used, so not noisy....

Room Tip: This condo has no AC, but it is not needed with the trade winds and fans provided.

There's a AAA discount for a week stay.My ten year old son loved hunting geckos, the two pools and the jacuzzi. The free Mai Tai party was an added plus. I would definitely stau there again! The people in the front office were very helpful! Laundry is free or was in our unit.

This may be letting the proverbial cat out the bag, but honestly, this property is a secret that must be shared! Our first trip to Maui and we booked the Noelani based on previous TripAdvisor reviews. What we were looking for was a property that was low-key, well maintained and that had friendly staff. We were not disappointed.

We had a one-bedroom unit on the ground level. Some parts of our unit were nicely updated, like the kitchen, which was so well stocked, we never even got to use half the items in there. Other parts, like the older style furniture (rattan and glass tops) and carpeting were still cozy and comfortable but we found ourselves coveting the more recently updated units which had tiled floors, newer furniture and new model televisions.

This was a 10-day holiday during Spring Break and we enjoyed every single day because we did get the quiet we were seeking. There are weekly mai-tai parties (Amy is a fabulous mixologist!) and BBQs; we only attended one event and it was wonderful to participate when and if we wanted. The Noelani attracts people just like ourselves - most people kept to themselves, our son had the pool to himself about 90% of the time, conversation is quiet, people are friendly.

We loved having a ground floor unit as we could walk along the grass to the pools or simply while away the hours watching the turtles and whales but have the flexibility to walk to the edge of the lawn at any time.

The best part of the Noelani is the unobstructed views. So special not to have a beach full of people in front of you like those staying in the newer highrise condo resorts down the road in Kaanapali where the pools and a boardwalk separate you from the beach. We were mesmerized by the turtle shows every morning and mid-afternoon. We lost count of the number of turtles that surf the waves to get to their meal of seaweed on the rocks in front of the Noelani. And every few minutes we were treated to a humpback or two moving through the channel between the islands. Truly a spectacle!

By day 6 we had made up our minds to return to the Noelani (which means Mists of Heaven in Hawaiian). We consulted with Amy and Jackie in the office and they kindly arranged to have us view a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, with a king-size bed in the master, ground level unit. We booked it on the spot and will be back next Spring Break.

Pick the Noelani if you are looking for quiet and family-friendly. People were very respectful of our privacy. We cannot wait to come back to this lovely spot.

Tips that may help you decide if this the place for your next holiday:

- The ocean breezes and the louvered windows in the bedroom (which sometimes can be a con when people are leaving early for their excursions and don't keep the volume down) kept our unit nicely cooled. The condo has notices posted with their quiet hours.

- Housekeeping alternates between light housekeeping (removing garbage and replacing towels) to full cleans (garbage, dusting, changing sheets, vacuuming).

- There is no restaurant on site; bring groceries with you. Times grocery store is 3 minutes towards Kaanapali and Costco is right by the airport.

- Washer and dryer in room is a bonus. No need to pack much.

- Staff is really concerned about the units and encourage guests to bring any concerns immediately to their attention.

- Our son slept on the pull out couch, and within a couple of days we realized that our family needed a 2-bedroom unit because my husband and I were up earlier than our son and wanted to use the kitchen and open the sliding door onto the lanai without disturbing him.

Room Tip: Consider a two-bedroom if traveling with kids and staying for more than a couple of days. If seeking...
