The regular hotel rooms here are filthy & disgusting. The elevators are the crappy metal kind from the 1970's. The hallways are dirty & the front desk is lackluster. Shabby bedspreads & dingy towels. Yuck!
I've heard that if you stay on the timeshare side, the suites are renovated. Our ordinary hotel room was the pits. We moved over to the westin.

My family always stays in a 2b/2b condo in South Keihi, but this year we decided to cut our condo reservation short by two days and end our trip at the Marriott's Maui Ocean Club so our 5 1/2 year old could play in their 3 acre pool. This place has been undergoing rennovation for some time and most of it has been in the pool area. However our 1 bd suite was very well appointed, clean and spacious.

Our son had a great time at the pool and we did not have to hoover over him every minute like we do at the ocean. They have a pirate ship water attraction where the water is only about 6 inches deep at the deepest area. He made lots of friends and we were able relax and watch him from the sidelines.

Note that this place is primarily a time share but they put very little pressure on us to hear their gig.

They have a new Sushi Bar in this resort and it is a full 4-stars! Check it out. The head chef, Vince Duong, is experieinced and serves very high quality fish. Sit at the bar and listen to what he recommends. The price is high, but it is everwhere on this island.

My wife and I have traveled all over the world this may not be the best hotel we have ever stayed at but it is an excellent facility. It is mainly a timeshare resort though we werent owners and werent treated differently. The food is a bit expensive like all of Maui, stop off at a grocery store and get some staples and store in your fridge. The pool is awesome, there were some fun kids activities. The beach is very minimal and steep directly in front of the hotel but if you walk 100 yards down it gets better. We had a great time some people are so incredibly picky they can ruin your stay before you even go. There is no way an honest person can rate this as terrible. It may be just above average but no lower.

We just spent a week of our honeymoon there, and really enjoyed it. Granted, this was a timeshare trade as a gift from my parents, so we were only paying for incidentals, therefore, I don't know what the rates were or anything like that and if we would have been paying too much for our room if we were paying.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom villa with efficiency kitchen, which was quite nice. The room was very clean, and the only issue we had was a cracked glass, which was replaced immediately by housekeeping once we reported it. The furniture was comfortable and nothing looked shabby to me. We were in a room that was at the end of the Molokai Tower, facing the mountains, but also had a view of the ocean. We could see both Lanai and Molokai from our balcony.

Sure the lobby is a little blah compared to others, well, it's open to the elements, so they can't put too much stuff in there that could be destroyed by rain. There were some fountains and sculptures that were nice. The section of lobby that was in our tower was absolutely stunning, but I don't stay at hotels based on the appearance of a lobby. We did check in the evening and the lobby area did not look as impressive until we went down the next morning and saw everything in daylight.

We were there about a week after the previous poster and only noticed a few kids, and they stayed mostly by the waterslide and by the lower pools, so that wasn't an issue. Marriott's are family resorts, esp. when you factor in that it is a timeshare, you're going to get a lot of guests with children. Stay somewhere else if you're going to be bothered by children in the slightest bit.

Another bonus for us, the laundry facilities were very nice and clean, and perfect for us since we had been travelling for a week prior to arriving in Maui.

Also, Whaler's Village being within walking distance was great.

something is very wrong here, i CANT BELIEVE people liked this place- i just cant believe it!!

positive:
none really

negative:
old resort, rooms are just old and nappy (eg-dead flies on the window sills)
no good shops/restaurants
pool is filled with little kids

we checked in, hated the lobby/room/pool. walked to the westin (next door) within 15 mins and couldnt believe our eyes! the place was beautiful...and only $10 more per night. so, we walked back, checked out and went to the westin.

id feel really bad if anyone stayed here. odnt get me wrong, the marriott kaui was GEORGEOUS, so its not like i hate marriott or work for westin or anything. its just that this place really ----!!
