“No Other Place To Stay On kaanapali”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

If Kaanapali Beach Is In Your Budget Than This Is THE Place. Our Room And View Is Simply Amazing. 2 Bedrooms 2 Baths gourmet kitchen Huge Living Room And Lanai Right ON The Beach. We Are Lucky To Bunk With My Mom and Good friends Otherwise We Would Never Be Able To Stay In Such A Stunning Condo. If You Are TravellIng With Another Couple And Can Afford This Beach Location..Stay Here...For Same Price As 2 Hotel Rooms...You Can Stay In This Luxury condo
My Only Complaint Is Wifi....Not An Option In Room And Very Spotty In The Common Area....But Hey Its Maui And I'm On Vacation So Wifi Not that Important..It Just Would Be nice

My family and I, including 2 young kids aged 6 and 4 stayed at the Kaanapali Alii over the last week. Overall its an excellent choice for a family. The apartments are spotless and well maintained, the service is generally good and the location is excellent. The beach is wonderful, although it was a bit rough for the first couple days we were there, but then calmed down and was caribbean like with turquoise warm water. It was also great fun watching the whales from the beach which is unmatched to anywhere I have been before. At the end of the beach there is a sheltered cove by the Sheraton, which offers calmer waters for the kids.

In general, I have 3 complaints of the place and they are

1. Internet wi fi access. It was terrible around the pool and signal was spotty and slow. Also in our apartment, we had no Wi fi as the owner had not got it set up yet. it would have been nice to read an online paper by the pool but that wasnt possible. They had wired access in the apartment, but who travels with their laptop anymore?
2. I was trying to on line check in on my late night flight but was unable to do so 24 hours prior as the internet is 'closed" at 10 pm at the reception. Reception is open, but the internet closes. Don't ask my why, its like technology has yet to dawn on Alii.
3. The need for a more substantial restaurant by the pool that offers comfort food- burgers, wings, nachos, sandwiches etc. The offer cold foods and ice cream, but I didnt see many people using the facilities because they were not that appealing and seemed very expensive.

The pool was average, on the small side, but it was fine. It would be great if Alii would strike an arrangement with a hotel nearby to use their pool facilities for a day, but I guess I am asking for too much.

All in all, I would definitely recommend the complex to families.

We had and are still having a terrific time. The service was great as is the location.

We had a severe anomaly in that exactly below us there was a fire the night we arrived. They were amazing in accommodating us quickly. Moved us rooms to ensure we were not exposed to the remaining smoke. We could see the Air Hepa filters being installed to clean the air immediately (!). Then they upgraded us to a bigger size apartment without asking. Any demands we would have had were addressed without needing to ask. Just what you would expect of a top notch resort.

Our kids ended up falling ill and we needed to extend our stay - Again they were quick to accommodate.

We look forward to our next stay there!

The Alii is not just a hotel, it is a destination. We have not got one bad thing to say about it. Staff were fantastic, the grounds and maintenance as well as our unit were impeccable. Every day we could watch whales putting on a fantastic show. Every evening we had a gorgeous sunset with Lana'i as a back drop. Close proximity to everything, shopping at Whaler's Village and Lahaina as well as lots of entertainment and activities nearby. Although there are no restaurants at this hotel, there are many close by which we tried, Leilana's, Hula Grill and Ruth's Chris were all great.
We will be back for sure

Room Tip: Make sure you have an Ocean View room, you don't want to miss the whales if they are in season a...

My family of 4 with two children (11 and 13) spent 5 nights in Feb 2013. Everything about the stay was wonderful. Great rooms, great service, great location. We were in building 4 on the second floor in unit 424. Though our ocean view was mostly blocked by the pool house, it was still very nice. The condo and room furnishings were all top notch. We cooked several meals and had all the kitchen tools and utensils we needed. Would highly recommend Kaanapali Alii if you are looking for a condo as opposed to a hotel room. We would go back again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms above the 3rd floor will not have the view obstructed by the pool house.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kaanapoli Alii. We stayed there nine years ago and it has not changed. The staff gets you to your condo in record time. Everyone is really helpful. Wish we could have stayed a lot longer.

Ka'anapali is a great place to go and just relax so our family has been several times. However this is the first time we have stayed at the Alii and we will never stay somewhere else again. We actually ended up here by accident. We were supposed to stay at the Whalers but when we checked in, they did not have the type of unit we had reserved. So our travel agent was able to move us to the Alii instead and boy were we lucky. Our 2 bedroom/2 bath with a Den was on the 11th floor with a full view of the ocean. Amazingly well appointed, gorgeous kitchen, great deck and the den had a queen sized Murphy bed so we all ended up with our own private space (den could be completely closed off). The pools and common areas are perfect, great beach in front of the property (surfed, boarded and snorkeled numerous days), and we cooked most meals in using the high end grills out by the pool. Actually cooking at the grills was one of the highlights of the trip as it's almost like a cocktail hour by the pool - meeting other folks staying there and share fun stories. Overall we could not have enjoyed the property more and look forward to our next trip soon!

Room Tip: We were in tower 3, 11th floor, south side - great views of the ocean and mountains unobstructed and...
