“Great Get away!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

Had an amazing time staying at the Shores. I recommend it to anyone who is going to Maui to stay at Ka'anapali Shores. Everything from the staff, services, and facilities really impressed me. I was sad to leave Maui and the Shores.

My husband and I just returned from our trip to Maui. This time we decided to stay at the Aston Kaanapali Shores Resort. We absolutely loved our time at the resort. Quiet, clean and very friendly staff. Already we are planning our next trip back which just might be next year.

Room Tip: Garden view, fourth floor towards the ocean. You can see some of the ocean and check out the swimmi...

We just returned from 9 nights of honeymoon bliss at the Aston Ka'anapali Shores. We had a studio with a full kitchen and gorgeous ocean views on the 8th floor. On checking-in we felt like we were being sent to the 'backblocks' of the resort, but once we entered the room we found beautiful views out to the islands of Molokai and Lanai islands, and appreciated that for at least the first 5 days we had no neighbors. The resort also sent us a congratulatory bottle of bubbly and a shopping bag as a gift, just after we arrived.

The kitchen included a full size refrigerator and stove with microwave overhead, there is a large island countertop with 3 barstools for dining. The bathroom had a full size tub with shower over and basin and vanity are outside near the closet. The living/sleeping area had a queen size bed and full size sleeper sofa, flatscreen TV, playstation (for games or watching DVDs), CD player and full surround sound speakers. There was also a coffee table and chair. Adjoining this were full height sliding doors leading to a balcony with a lounger and table and 2 chairs. I believe these units are privately owned so your mileage may vary.

My only complaint would be that the bed was extremely hard - not just firm.

Opposite the resort entrance (2 min walk) is a small strip mall with a cafe/bar (great BLTs), a sandwich shop, a taqueria, a pizzeria, and a full size supermarket, making it extremely convenient to cater in the condo kitchen if that's what you're hoping to do. Costco is also close to the airport which is very handy on arrival on the island.

The housekeeping staff were consistently polite and usually very friendly, and accommodating to our inconsistent schedule . The bed was made each day and fresh towels supplied, and every three days the sheets were changed. Service at the front desk was quick and efficient.
Maui is a great holiday destination, with lots of activities for people of all ages. I'd stay at this location again in a heartbeat - in fact we're contemplating booking for my birthday in March.

We spent a week at the Hotel and wished we had booked the entire two weeks.
the staff were so nice and helpfull. The grounds and pool areas were very clean
and very beautiful. The beach was not as large as around Black rock area, and it
gets deep quite close to shore. There is a grocery store right accross the street
and the prices were reasonable. The small pizza shop beside the grocery store
was the best on Maui. We will be visiting the Aston Kaanapali again when on Maui,
it is central on the island and a short drive to all the best Maui has to see.

Aston Kaanapali Shores is a fantastic hotel for families, couples and retires. We stayed their as part of a 15-person group!
The rooms are BIG and so comfortable. We had a room facing the ocean from the family room balcony and the pool from our bedroom balcony. Loved that. And the sunsets. Oh my!
Each day we come in from our sight seeing or beach combing and enjoyed happy hour at the pool. We met so many friendly people from all over. Many who come back to this hotel every year.
Across a not-so-busy highway is a little boutique rich with souveniers and cute dresses and tees. And at a much lower cost than anywhere else. There's also a very good mexican restaurant in case you need a spicy fix, like I did!
Book your tickets. It's FABulous.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room facing the ocean! If you're going to travel all the way to Hawaii...

We stayed here whilst on Maui and were upgraded to a two-bedroom suite, with ocean and garden views. The rooms were big and well maintained, the hotel itself is beautifully furnished and it fronts right onto the beach. It's a lovely spot to stay for the Western side of the island, but it's name "Kaanapali" is a little deceiving as it is not actually part of the hotel community in Kaanapali, it's a couple of miles up the road. But it's still nice and has great access to public transport or hire cars once you're there. The only real problem was that we had to fly to the main airport on Maui, which is about a 45min to 1hr drive away... so it's a bit $$$ to get there if you don't hire a car.

Within 2 hours both was repaired. The grounds were beautiful, and well kept up. We are going back there Feb 2012. We highly recommend this place.
