“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2008

We had pretty high expectations since this was supposed to be the best luau in all of Hawaii. It was disappointing. OK, the grounds are wonderful, but the food was very average. Not really bad, but you can find plenty of places with better food on Maui. The show was repetitious and at times cheesy. No real good storyline and the narration was sometimes difficult to understand. The staff was very good, however. All in all, I would spend the 90 bucks on something else.

“Fabulous Luau!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2008

What a fabulous luau. I can not eat gluten and accidentally waited until the day before our reservations to call and ask what was safe for me to eat. The chef makes a special gluten free meal which was excellent. I was also given a list of foods with ingredients at the buffet and drinks that were safe for me to eat. Our server kept out drinks full the whole time and was very attentive to our needs. The show was great. Be sure to call early for good seats. We booked about six months in advance and were seated in the first row of tables near the center of the stage.

“Wonderful overall experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2008

The overall evening was wonderful. The show, the ambience of watching the sunset in a polynesian setting, being under the stars and oceanfront, learning about the culture, and enjoying the great buffet (and I'm not a buffet fan, but the food was better than most of the restaurants I'd visited) really made it a wonderful evening. The staff was very friendly and caring. Pricing was a bargain, too, considering you're hard-pressed to find a decent dinner for the same price, let alone entertainment, too. Would love to go back. If you go, sit on the cushions (unless you have knee or back problems), you'll be closer to the dancers, and be sure to take a camera. Aloha!

“Great show”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2008

If you are looking for a great show, go to the Old Lahaina Luau. The dancers were amazing, the music was pretty, and they did a great job telling the story. The food was so-so. It wasn't too bad, but given the delicious meals we had at some other restuarants, it didn't compare. The grounds were pretty and the staff was very friendly, but you may have to wait awhile for dinner. They have assigned seating and they lead people to the buffet table by table. We were the last table to go up and almost everyone was finished with their dinner by the time we got to eat. We were starved! It's definitely worth it for the show and the experience though, especially if this is your first time to Hawaii. $90 for a buffet, open bar (the drinks are watered down, but you can get beer or wine instead), and a show isn't bad!
