Description: In the early days of the sugar plantations, lunch was a simple affair. Plantation workers gathered in the fields for their mid-day meal. The Japanese laborers would bring teriyaki beef with rice and pickled vegetables. Seated next to them might be their Filipino neighbors with the traditional dish adobo or perhaps a pork or chicken stew. The Koreans had their kalbi or marinated ribs and the Chinese a rice noodle and vegetable dish called chow fun. Hawaiians were known for their kalua pig, roasted in an underground oven called an imu. It wasn't long before they began to share their foods with one another and the "mixed plate" was born. Aloha Mixed Plate features true "Local" traditional plate lunches with open air seating directly on the ccean. We are open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

“Great location, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

We loved Aloha Mixed Plate! They served a wide variety of Hawaiian foods, including foods baked in an underground oven and great specialty cocktails. The seating was all outside, but there were plenty of umbrellas so everyone in our table of 8 was in the shade. One side note though, if you want to sit in the section closest to the water, you can't order alcoholic beverages. But, we were in the alcohol-allowed section and still had a beautiful view of the ocean.

“On a Budget w a View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

We ate lunch here and service was good. They ask if u r going to drink- if not you get to set closer to the beach. The Poi was just this weird bland tan gravy stuff. The Aloha Mixed Plate was good and plentiful portions- good flavored beef & chicken with decent fish. The Pork & Cabbage was cooked well but not much flavor- ask for teriyaki or BBQ sauce. Both come with hawaii's traditional scoops of white rice and a Mac/potato salad- both good.
Only real complait were all the flies when our meal came but we r outside so not much to so for that.
Total bill $27...and we left full (at our resort you cannot even get breakfast buffet for ONE for that price!).

Food was good. Portion was large. Price was reasonable for Hawaii. The whole family liked this place and we went more than once.

“good food, great location and value”

We love the plate style meals on Maui and finally made it to Aloha Mixed Plate. All 7 in our group loved the food, the mahi mahi was excellent. Great location and good value for Maui restaurants.

“"Local" cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

We were talking to a security guy at our resort and asked him where the locals like to eat. He told us to go to Aloha Mixed Plate. We were pleasantly surprised, as the prices were extremely reasonable and the food exactly what we wanted. Plain, comfort food, I guess you'd call it, Maui style. That night the sunset was colorful, sky beautiful, overall very romantic. We sat practically on the beach, and were able to hear the live music from the luau next door. Overall, a lovely evening and a nice change from the high-end dining experience.
