“Go for a sunset dinner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

The food was the best we had on the island during our 6 day trip. Other places we'd eaten were good but there didn't seem to be enough to fill us up but here, the food is great and there's enough to call one plate a "meal". We were lucky enough to get a front row seat on the deck during sunset and only had to wait about 5 minutes. If you want to fight the crowds of Front St. for a good meal, make it to Koa's! Aloha!

“Romantic sunset dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

We were going to do a dinner cruise but after a few people getting sea sick after snorkeling we decided that was a bad idea. We asked a local for something just as good or better. We got it! This was the best view of sunset and the best food! I had the catch of the day with crusted crab, so good. We also got the biggest calamari we have ever seen it was so good. I am very picky with my crab cakes and these measured up. So good! I will be back there for my next trip for sure! I recommend this place to anyone. It is also very reasonable prices!

“Awesome view, service needs a bit of a boost”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

When we first heard about this place from our concierge, we thought for sure the place was going to be really hard to get a reservation so we decided to head out on the early side of dinner rush. The view on the upper deck is spectacular, period.

But, since it's open air you will get hit by direct sun as it descends, even though there are a fair amount of umbrellas up there. If you're with people who are going to be uncomfortable in the glare, do yourself a favor and wait for a table on the bottom floor.

As for the food, I really thought mine was great--I ordered the signature seafood dish. I do think there was a problem either with the timing of the dishes OR the service (which I will get to in a minute) because while mine was piping hot and delicious, there were a few at my table who said their fish had dried and was just warmish.

The service was friendly and we definitely appreciated that our waitress informed us it was only her second day... it let us know right away to be patient and supportive. An hour after waiting for our food, though, we were becoming less so. When we inquired, it was obvious she was in over her head and had forgotten about us.

The manager came around later and checked on everything and was disappointed that we received our food so late and one order was incorrect. We really feel like he truly made his best attempt to correct the situation. He brought out dessert for the kids who were at our table and it was stellar! He also gave us a discount on some items.

Would we go back? Probably, but I must say when we first checked out the reviews on another site, one reviewer hit it on the head--this place is newer than most and still getting its sea legs.

“Great view of the water, good kids menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

We had a nice dinner at Koa's. We were able to get a table right on the water & the setting was fantastic. The Brie appetizer was OK, but their fish entrees were very good. Kids menu had more than enough options and was priced reasonably at $6.95. We got a fair amount of attention from the mgr. & he was a nice person. Great Mai Tai. You have to walk through a jewelry/gift store to get to the restaurant. We would go here again.

“Not the best experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Went here for breakfast after many, many successful delicious meals at the Gazebo. Same menu, beautiful location, however the service was absolutely awful. Our server ignored us the entire time we were there, instead preferring to chat with friends she was serving at the table behind us. Took 45 min for our breakfast order, and when it did arrive my partner's meal was completely wrong. He ordered pork tacos and was brought a pulled pork sandwich with fries. Very disappointing considering we love the Gazebo so much.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate customers who let us know when they are not satisfied. It is our goal to have 100% customer satisfaction and we strive very hard to achieve this. It must have been very frustrating to receive the wrong order after waiting so long, please accept my apology. We will reiterate to all of our staff in tomorrow’s team meeting that the level of service along with the great food we serve is so very important to our business. I am eager to gain your confidence in Koa’s Seaside Grill, if you are in the area and are able to stop in, it would be my pleasure to speak with you further. Please ask for Buff Weaver, General Manager.
