“This was a shock!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

We stayed at the hotel and have honestly rated it as Average... it was... however on our last night we ate in the Tiki Terrace restaurant and watched the free Hula show. The food and service were first rate, it was a real surprise at the average hotel... We really enjoyed our final meal.

“Laid back and entertaining, but maybe for an older crowd”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

This is a nice, open air restaurant at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. We dined here 3 times for dinner during our 7 nights in Maui. The food was good all three times, and we found the prices to be reasonable if not especially inexpensive. The main attraction here is the nightly music / hula show which you can watch here or from seats arranged in front of the restaurant for patrons of the adjacent bar. The hula shows are not as elaborate as those of the luaus but are good and the music was also laid back and good - the show was different each of the 3 nights we ate there. Only downside is that the drinks at this restaurant are provided by the adjoining bar and are weak or watered down - one night I ordered a lava flow and my wife ordered a virgin lava flow. I tried both and could taste no difference, even though it certainly was an alcoholic lava flow I had on my bill.

“Sub-par”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

The mahi-mahi was very overcooked; it was almost solid. My husband got the mixed grill option and the portions were very small and the steak was also overcooked. If you wanted to order a mixed drink, it had to come from the Tiki Bar requiring a different bill.

“Everything is good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

The buffet breakfast has so many choices and everything was very good. We had the seafood pasta and fish with crab and artichokes for dinner and wished we had eaten dinner more often!

“It's The Experience (and the food too!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Sunday Brunch at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel is an event rather than JUST a meal. The main reason for going is the decor, the entertainment, and the impromptu participation of those with Hula or singing talent. The food is excellent for a buffet with a lot of Hawaiian Poke, Lumi-lumi salmon, crab, shrimp, etc, There are also lots of more conventional selections.

We were entertained on 8/18 by a couple of vocalists who were joined, impromptu, by a Hawaii Ladies Organization (they were guests - not paid entertainers.) They were all seniors and performed with the grace and beauty that Hula is noted for. Amazing! Remember to make reservations for patio seating if it is not too hot out because that is where the entertainment starts.
