“Not impressive for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

I have had hibachi a million times in a ton of locations. This one fell short of my expectations. I was surprised they used dark meat chicken instead of white meat. The portions weren't the typical un surmountable amount you typically get.

Steer clear of Kobe and spend your money at one of the many great restaurants on the island! Aloha Mixed Plate is a good local cuisine for about a quarter of the price. Front street is piled with good higher priced places as well.

“The Best Sushi and Japanese Steak House!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

We walking in off the street in Lahaina to a very busy sushi bar and were seated in a few minutes. The grill looked crowded and noisy but everyone seemed to be enjoying the food and entertaining chefs! Our sushi was amazing from fresh oysters to fresh tuna and the miso the best I have had. Everything was delicious. I would visit again for sure - just one of my favorite meals at any time!

“Great entertainment but don't expect to sit and visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014 via mobile

We made reservations and got in right away. The food was good and the cook was very entertaining. When we were done they hovered over us to pay our bills and get out as they had more reservations coming in so if you want to sit and have a few drinks and visit do not go here. We were in and out just after an hour

“This time it was even better than excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

We have eaten here for years and this trip it was especially good. We always dine on the Sunset Special and all the choices are good. I had the Opakapaka (Pink Snapper) and it was just great! My mom ordered the Steak and Shrimp and ended up with a double helping of steak. My wife had the Teriyaki Chicken; everything was tasty and cooked just perfectly right in front of us which makes it so fun. Kobe' is on the list EVERY time we are here!!!!

“A family dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

Had a large family outing, with 11 adults and one toddler. Arrived earlier than our reservation time, but were seated fairly quickly. Drinks were procured and were tasty. Had to split our large group, with 5 people at the adjacent table/grill, where 2 other couples were added to make a full table. Everyone had to wait until all were present before food service began, so we had to wait for the last couple to arrive. The waitress Danielle tried her best to be heard while attempting to explain the various menu options, but it was still hard to hear her. The Teppanyaki Chef, Scott, was very skilled and kept us well-entertained, both with chopping & cooking feats and with (mostly) humorous stories. Our group had various combinations of shrimp, scallops, fish & steak (including the filet mignon) and everyone seemed happy with their choices and food. All was delicious! The vegetables were prepared first, so really had to be eaten before the meat/fish or rice was ready, or it would get cold. The two sauces (one ginger-based and one spicier wasabi-based) were outstanding. Our only negatives were that the toddler (18mo) was terrified of the flames and loud noises of the grilling and chopping, so while probably fascinating to an older child, ended up not being the best place to bring a little one. The other negative was that the place needed a good deep cleaning. It smelled bad when we walked in (which we sort of got used to) and the chairs and tables were sticky from residual grease. For this reason alone I would probably rather try some place new next time. Prices were OK initially, but then every little thing (like garlic in the rice) is extra, so they are very good at padding the bill! Overall, a little on the pricey side, but good food & entertainment.
