My wife and I went to Fleetwoods for a mid-afternoon snack and drinks. We chose the rooftop area. We both agreed that the rooftop area still needs some work. The restaurant has just recently opened and there are still some items that need some polish. The fountan/water feature was not working. The mechanical's along the southern side, near where we sat are visible along with stored ladders and other paraphernalia. That needs to be screened off. My wife opined that the decor is Moorcan influnced (what do I know, I just wanted a Longboard) but we both agreed it didn't feel 'Hawaiian' but maybe that is by design.
Our pupu's were good and the right amount. Beer was cold. My wife had I think a mixed drink that she thought was good but unfortunately I can't remember what she had.
On leaving, we checked out what appears to be the main part of the restaurant which is on the second floor. The decor was kind of dark in my opinon. We were there in the middle of the afternoon so it wasn't packed but our server said they are doing a very good dinner business.
I do have to make special mention of GREAT service and a shinning example of Aloha sprit by a young man who was busing the tables. I wish I had gotten his name. We had a lot of hummus left from our appetizer and my wife asked for a container and a cup of ice to keep it cold. This young man went out of his way to make a special effort to get the ice and take out container. Kudos and Maholo nui loa.
Overall, Fleetwoods rates just average, at least for now. We will return and see if they have fixed some of the growing pains and inevitable glitchs that a new place has. It has a great location and great potential that I hope it can achieve.
