In short, this place is amazing, when we stepped into the apartment we stepped into a postcard of Hawaii.
The fit out of the apartment was tastefully done, no small feat when the lamps are pineapples, the furniture perfectly suited to the environment, and very comfortable, and when you step onto the deck the view is amazing with palm trees, sand and ocean.
We spent 4 nights here on our honeymoon after time in Waikiki and Hilo and this was the easily the highlight of our trip.
The apartment come with everything you could want and with a large supermarket just down the road, we didn't rent a car and the walk was a comfortable 20 minutes, everything is easily available.
The owners are great to deal with and i woudl very happily stay there again.

We just returned from a wonderful 11 day stay at the Hale Mahina. We've been to the other islands but had not been back to Maui since our honeymoon 35 years ago. Things have changed on Maui!!! This one bedroom condo is an end unit, with windows down the side in the living, kitchen, bath and bedroom, which was great for the cross-ventilation and no one walks outside your door. It was nicely appointed with just about everything you'd need for an extended stay. Some things were new, some needed attention, but nothing to make you stay away from this unit. Larry, the manager, was very nice and the grounds are kept impecible. The nice sandy beach is wonderful and shared by only 4 condos. Rarely more than 10-20 people on the beach. The sea turtles were fantastic and sometimes crawl up on the beach to take in the sunshine.

This two bedroom (one bedroom is a loft) two bath condo has been recently upgraded and was a great fit for our group of six. My eldest slept on the lanai comfortably for our entire ten day trip. We took advantage of the snorkeling equipment and boogie boards, and we spent most evenings with a drink in hand either on the oceanfront lounge chairs or on our lanai, taking in the ocean breezes. I was nice and toasty the entire time! The pool was perfect for kids and adults alike and where else are you steps from both the pool and the ocean? It was a great mix of owners and renters. The kids were able to snorkel right off the beach, taking in shells and wildlife. Sea turles (honu) even came right up on the beach! The geckos were a hoot to watch!

The pace was perfect for us. Not crowded at all. The manager, Larry, helped my eldest open a coconut.

20 years go was our first visit to the Halen Mahina and we've stayed in many units over the years. The 52 unit complex is the perfect size to have a more relaxing holiday than the mayhem the mega resorts and include. The 2 bedroom units are on the top (4th) floor of each building and can vary greatly in how they are appointed and what's included. This unit was perfect in the furnishings, comfortable beds, iPod docking stations, Wi-Fi and the comforts of home. The view of the Maui sunset from the lanai was a nightly ritual for us.
