“Excellent Evening in Maui”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2005

My husband and I love tourist railroads. We were on our honeymoon and had the pleasure of having a "dinner train" adventure. While this isn't the longest ride you will ever take on a tourist railroad the scenery and ocean views more than make up for it. For train enthusiasts there is a turntable at the station and a wonderful little gift shop. At the end of our train ride waited one of the best barbeques I had ever been to.
The food was outstanding and plenty of it. Everything from drinks to desserts.....but the best part was the entertainment. There were plenty of picnic tables in a semi circle with a small stage in the center. We were treated to beautiful live Hawaiian music and a troupe of Hawaiian dancers (all children). They were precious and very professional. This was one of the most memorable, relaxing nights we spent on maui.

“Don't bother with this waste of an activity”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2004

I wrote a lengthier review under "Sugar Cane Train", but I'll second what the first reviewer said and warn you not to waste your time or money on this activity. If you live in the Bay Area, check out the Tilden Park Steam Train - it costs a fraction what this train costs, and you see actual *nature* - the Sugar Cane Train has nothing at all to do with sugar cane, and the only things you see are the noisy highway, dirty backyards, and a golf course. BORING.

“Waste of Time and Money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2002

We were recently in Maui Sept 2002. We traveled with our 2 children (ages 5 and 9). We thought the Sugar Train would be a Ideal thing to do that the children would enjoy. Boy were we wrong! The train rides takes approximately 1 hour. You never see any actual sugar cane fields. You are constantly being told of where the fields were and you are shown old falling down buildings that were once a processing plant of sorts. Anyway bottom line is.....The kids were bored stiff and they couldn't wait to get off the train. So save your money and just take them to the beach (which is free).
