We just returned from out 10-day stay in hawaii. We booked our package through Samsclub.com (linked to expedia but w/discount). We spent the first 4 nights of our journey at the fabulous Westin Villas. We only paid $230 a night during peak season and we reserved a 1 bedroom in the south property. It included a full, well appointed kitchen, pull-out sofa bed and king size bed in a separate bedroom. The bathroom was the largest we've ever had at a hotel. It had a walk-in shower large enough for 2 or 3 people, private toilet, his and her sinks and a jetted tub. If you stay here, be prepared for a lot of walking. This place is HUGE! In fact one of the locals calls it "Westinville" because its large enough to be its own city! My sister and her family stayed in the north end and it was literally far enough to drive to. They reserved a studio which was far too cramped for their family of 4. I highly recommend upgrading to a 1 bed. if you are bringing kids. However, the studio is highly functional. It also includes a kitchennette with a 2-burner stove, microwave, dishwasher and full-size fridge. If its just a couple staying in there, it would be perfect. Some previous reviewers have complained about being bothered to attend a timeshare presentation, we we'ren't asked once, not even at check-in! Here's the pros and cons:
Pros: Newer, clean property
Nice pools
4-person cabanas avail. for rent
Full kitchen in 1 bedrooms
Nice general stores
Free wi-fi in your room
Nice staff
Washer/dryer in your room (even the studio!)
Free shuttle to Lahaina
Beach suitable for swimming
More than ample free parking
Polite and helpful bellman
Cons: Confusing to get around, we got lost twice
Huge property and a lot of walking
Hard to find lounge chairs w/shade
Buildings not marked w/#'s
Parking a little more difficult at night
Not very "cozy" because of the large size of the resort
All-in-all, my husband and I would definitley stay at the Westin again on our next trip to Maui. A kitchen is a must w/kids and if you want to save $ making your own meals. We saved over $1000 just by cooking breakfast, lunch and some dinners.
