“Awesome experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We went to the Westin on a promotional package and were so pleased with our experience at the Westin. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional We were dreading the time share tour but found it unlike most others. No pressure, informative and we actually enjoyed it.

The Westin Villas were quite nice- larger than we expected. nice furnishings and functional. Loved having the washer and dryer in our room.

We will be returning to Hawaii in two years and will be staying there again. I think that says it all!!

Room Tip: We were on the third floor on the North side and had a nice size balcony and it was very quiet

We have no kids however we are stuck on the side with the kids pool.
Both times we have went to the pool and bar, the service sucks and took forever.
The only person that was attentive to us was the Segway security guy that kick us out of the pool. However the two 9 year old's, where completely unsupervised where a ok for the splashing in the jacuzzis.
So far this has been a poor service, poor food, strict "security" establishment, in a very nice looking property, and great snorkeling beach. Could do better for your money.

This is a time share hotel. A little hard to relax here. There are thousands of kids and we weren't in spring break time either. So time by the pool or beach is interrupted by them and throngs of the obese. There's an "adult" pool tucked away but also shaded so it can be cool.
The amenities are nice, the staff are friendly and the facility is clean. Our room had a refrigerator that froze everything we placed in it. Also no separate light for toilet. That meant waking spouse up every time one or the other needed to take care of biz.
Other than that, the beds are comfy, beach is easily accessible with decent reef snorkeling out front. And if you're taking the whole family there's plenty to do for them.
If not, then I would look into a more adult-only set up if possible.

We stayed at the Westin Villas in Kaanapali- we where very pleased with our room. Very nicely decorated, amazing beds (we are very picky when it comes to beds) great ammonites , great location and so far the best snorkeling. It was nice to walk out and right down the beach, snorkel and then go right back up to your room and shower. Very family friendly if you bring your kids, but we didn't and still felt that we had a lot of space and quietness. Over all experience was amazing. We would come back again.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view, but remember you will pay more for that view. Ocean front will cost a lot. Our...

We are pleased to hear that your first time to Maui was an overall amazing experience for you. I’m delighted to hear that you took the opportunity to enjoy one of the greatest snorkeling spots on the island, which yes, is just steps away. Thank you for taking the time to share your about your stay and for choosing us as your “home away from home.” We can’t wait to welcome you back to Maui again.

My wife and I went to this resort because we received a 5 night package deal from Starwood Preferred. The hotel itself was nice from a physical point of view, but it is huge and crowded. The lobby area was very luxurious and the room, which was a studio villa, was quite nice although the layout could be improved. The kitchenette was far too small and the bathroom, with its double jetted tub was too big. I doubt the tubs get used often and they would be better off to put in a more standard bathroom configuration and make the kitchenette larger and more usable. There was not a decent place to eat whatever meal you did prepare. Also, an annoying feature I have found at many Sheraton hotels is that the bathroom has a shuttered opening facing the bed, that appears to serve no purpose. In this case it was frosted glass as was the main bathroom door and the door to the toilet. This setup provides less privacy, no sound reduction and results in lighting up the bedroom whenever someone visits the bathroom in the middle of the night. Also the shower door did not seal properly resulting in flooded floors. The bed was very comfortable, but the linens were some plastic feeling material which felt very institutional. Also the hallways on the ground floor had a tenement like feel with concrete floors and it was like a maze to get to our room.

The pool area looks nice but is noisy, crowded and not at all relaxing. On at least occasional a child threw up in the pool, a fact that the pool staff did not want to acknowledge. There is a small adult only pool stuffed between two buildings with little sunshine and an altogether unpleasant feel.

We also agreed to attend the supposedly pressure free presentation from Starwood Vacations as we were interested in some of their other resorts on other islands. The presentation was supposed to take 90 minutes and we had limited time. The presentation is slick and well presented but in hindsight we found some of the information was misleading, and not completely accurate. And there was nothing pressure free about it.....the pressure to buy on the spot was intense with a number of incentives and when we indicated we had to leave to get to another appointment, they reluctantly gave us until 8:30 the following morning to make up our minds. We passed as the resort we were interested in is in Kauai, we would not buy it sight unseen.

We did not eat much at the resort. The lunch around the pool was not bad, but the food in main Italian restaurant was poor and expensive.

This might be a good place if you have kids, but for couples it is awful.

Room Tip: I would think that rooms overlooking the pool would be noisy. Our room faced away from the property...

We just spent our third vacation with four families at the Westin KOR North Villas. Their service is excellent and the overall atmosphere is awesome. There are cheaper places to stay in Maui, but overall I dont think you can beat this resort. We will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool can be noisy, so if your seeking a quiet stay then I would request a room faci...

We own an island view at this property and for the first time stayed during Spring Break (just my husband and I, no kids)

We really enojyed our stay here and can't wait to come back. We are also fans of the Westin Villas in Kauai and own at the Westin Lagunamar in Cancun. Each resort is special and unique in it's own way

Great Things
- They heat their pools now! I have been several times and the pools were icy cold in the summer, The warm pools made our trip- Thanks Westin!
- Great food at the pool bar on the north side- try the burger- OUTSTANDING
- Got my room request even though I booked less than 90 days prior to arriving
- Free valet parking your first night
- Walking to Dukes for dinner at the resort next door
- Lots of parking
- We didn't have an ocean view and didn't care. We looked out to the beautiful KOI ponds and lawn. Such a beautiful place!
- They had so many people cleaning, painting, repairing, gardening, etc. I could tell they take upkeep very serious and labor perssures are not an issue when staffing the hotel. There was always someone cleaning something everywhere I looked
- The north side studios are better than the south side. They have full refrigerators and it was perfect for the two of us. At first I was worried about not having a one bedroom. We didn't need it at all
- Every night there is a ceremony to light the tiki torches at the resort. Very Hawaiian and great way to wrap up your day at the pool

Things they could improve on
- Not the Westin's fault but don't go during Spring Break if you don't have kids. I have never seen so many kids in one place and wanted to pull my hair out after listening to "Marco Polo" for 3 straight days. I saw a few couple try and relax in their pool rafts and they were constantly being splashed and getting hit by kids throwing balls
- Babies in diapers in the jucuzzi- unsanitary and not safe for the babies
- Not a big deal but didn't have feather pillows or bathrobes. Had to request them
- Cocktail servers around the pool didn't seem too happy. Not a lot of smiles. This was odd since everyone else was so friendly
- Having to rent beach chairs and umbrellas at the beach.
- Adult pool gets no sun and most people don't know it's there
- They have changed the category of this hotel and it's now 20,000- 24,000 points for a free night. A year and a half ago it was half of that. While I love this resort, don't think it deserves to be the same category as the St Regis brand

So if this resort wasn't on the same level as the St Regis (Category 6) it would have been very close to perfect but since WESTIN set this standard for THEMSELVES, wanted to give some feedback on what they could do to be world class
