“Paradise, for us and EVERYONE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

This was our 6th time back to Maui but our FIRST time to the Villas. Loved them and the room we had in building 4. 5th floor, clear view of the park's parking lot and the ocean. Had the larger unit this week (Feb 24 -Mar 3, 2013) so had the full living room, kitchen, BIG bathroom with the big shower. We love this strip of Kaanapali and the walkway that goes all the way to Whaler's Village. Saw whales off the coast from our room, from the walkway, from the beach, etc. etc. A plethora of whales...mamas, babies, and males seeking the females. This was truly paradise for us, just some wind typical of this time of year. Used our SVO, so just paid for the liquor and food. Enjoyed time on the beach and by the pool but drove all over the island visiting places we had been before--blowholes, up Haleakala, on the road to Hana, took a whaling expedition, etc. Ate dinner in Lahaina a few nights. Westin and Sheraton have a well-used and well-planned shuttle system between the properties and to Lahaina. Staff was gracious, service good, room superb and clean. Can't say enough good and can't wait to go back. We're coming, Maui!!!!

Room Tip: Can't really select a room as an SV owner. We lucked out this time!

First time to the Westin Ocean Resort Villas in Kaanapali. Rooms are beautiful; actually you won't even know you're in hawaii since the Westin is able to maintain consistency around the world for their rooms. Comfy, high-end, kitchens were nice and well stocked. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Resort had multiple resturants, which although pricey, had fairly good food. There are two market/general stores on site which are convienent and prices are decent as far as prices on Maui go; not much difference between prices here and at the grocery store.
It's definitely a great place to go with family and children. We had our 9 month old son with us and hung out at the pool every day. Minus the crazy wind that exists here in Kaanapali, it was a great trip.
The negatives would be that the Westin continues to charge for everything!!! You pay $10 for parking your vehicle per day! If you want a beach chair and umbrella for the Beach you have to pay!! For my husband and I to each have a chair and an umbrella it was going to cost us $60 per day!! Ridiculous!!! If you are expecting to "rent out" pool toys like a volleyball, its best you buy and bring your own because they have one to rent out, which i don't think acutally exists because we asked everyday. But they were more than happy to try to charge us $20 to purchase a ball for the pool
Overall the Westin Ocean resort villas were the best part of Maui and had we not stayed here the trip would have sucked a lot! It's good location, can easily drive south to Kihei, Waliea and big beach in a day with lots of time to spare.

Room Tip: If you are getting a studio, and are expecting a balcony to sit on, make sure you are not in the fir...

This is a great place for families with kids. Because of the timeshares there seemed to be a lot of active retirees as well. The beach out front was very disappointing but the pools were nice. We had a studio that over looked the kid pool with the pirate ship which was small but nice -- it was considered a beach view but I couldn't see the beach from the windows. The older part of the resort (northern buildings) seemed to get a lot more wind and had exterior walkways so it just seemed colder.

The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I wasn't overly impressed with the pool and beach staff while nice, we had to go track them down when we wanted something. They were circulating as I would expect them to.

It is a nonsmoking hotel but it was obvious (because of the smell) that some people were smoking on the balconies, I mentioned it to the concierges desk but they seemed relunctant to act on it and the smoking continued for the duration of our visit.

The food was fine nothing exciting and very underseasoned but perhaps that was due to the clientel that might want fresh but rather bland food.

Had one of the best deep tissue massages of my life at the spa in the hotel....

Room Tip: Get a room in the south buildings they are newer and have access from an interior hallway.

We were so impressed with our stay at the Westin Villas that we HAD to write a review! I try to do extensive research on each place we go (via trip advisor:) to try to make sure that we make the best choices for our family of 5 (kids ages 5-11) and this was a winner! Beautiful meticulous resort that was 99 percent full and still did not feel crowded! Ease of access to excellent quality beachfront, multiple pools, parking, gorgeous views. Never a far walk anywhere- a huge plus when hauling gear. Beachfront never crowded, had great reefs for snorkeling, great for kids boogie boarding, sand castle building, etc. optional scuba diving, paddle boarding available on site. Staff couldn't have been more attentive or professional. Kids club day camp option on site was a hit with our kids though would like to see more outdoor activities with each session. Pool with long slide occupied our kids as did tiki torch lighting ceremony in evening, watching constant whale breaches from beach, and routine koi fish feedings. We had a 2 bedroom villa (kids had their own deck, kitchen, jacuzzi bath, washer dryer - again amazing! ). On site restaurants were pricey so we started grilling for dinner and really enjoyed! We had a luxurious wonderful family time here and highly recommend!

This was our second trip to Maui and stay at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas. We loved the place even more than our first trip in 2012. the accommodations were just great, housekeeping most attentive, and front desk and concierge services top notch. We are already making plans to return in 2014.

Room Tip: First floor, one bedroom suite with lenai near pool is great. Noise was not a problem.

Our family enjoyed our week stay at this property in April, 2012. The snorkeling right off the resort's beach was fantastic (we swam with turtles). We stayed in a one bedroom (2 queen beds) condo with a small galley kitchen. The 2 burner stove (no oven) was just adequate, but we really enjoyed using the gas grills in the building's common area. There were nice tables/chairs so we could eat outside. The location of this property is a plus, within walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the southern part of Ka'anapali Beach. The resort's complimentary shuttle service is very convenient and we used it several times during our stay. Finally, the pools and landscaping added to the overall "living in paradise" effect, if just for a short week!

Room Tip: Be careful about "ocean view" categories. Our room overlooked the adjacent public park par...

This resort and its employees are amazing. I had the most wonderful experience of hospitality ever in all my travels. The room was clean and well laid out. The conceirge service helped us plan our trip around the islands and we seen some historic and breath taking sights. You want a good Mai Tai ask Mosita at the pool side bar to make you one.
