This is a great place for families with kids. Because of the timeshares there seemed to be a lot of active retirees as well. The beach out front was very disappointing but the pools were nice. We had a studio that over looked the kid pool with the pirate ship which was small but nice -- it was considered a beach view but I couldn't see the beach from the windows. The older part of the resort (northern buildings) seemed to get a lot more wind and had exterior walkways so it just seemed colder.
The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I wasn't overly impressed with the pool and beach staff while nice, we had to go track them down when we wanted something. They were circulating as I would expect them to.
It is a nonsmoking hotel but it was obvious (because of the smell) that some people were smoking on the balconies, I mentioned it to the concierges desk but they seemed relunctant to act on it and the smoking continued for the duration of our visit.
The food was fine nothing exciting and very underseasoned but perhaps that was due to the clientel that might want fresh but rather bland food.
Had one of the best deep tissue massages of my life at the spa in the hotel....
