This experience was recommended to us by family that attends one show every time they come to the Island. If you enjoy a Vegas style dinner theater show (with a Hawaiian theme) you will not be disappointed. The regular magician was recently injured but his stand-in was very good. The warm up magician, who does a free show at the Cannery Mall on Sundays, was also very good.
The story of Kupanaha is told through magic, music, and hula. It is an interesting story is about the great magicians of the past who have visited Hawaii and Maui.
The food was very good for this style of event and in my view, it compares favorably with what passes for "fine dining" at the various resorts and Luaus in Ka'anapali. I had the steak and it was very tender and well prepared. My wife had the vegetarian option and she says it was delicious. The kids, ranging from ages 8 to 12, were enthralled. The magicians invite the kids to participate so your children will love it.
We stayed at the Aston MKV and the event is walking distance, so leave your rental car at home and enjoy a few Mai Tais at the show.
One other point of note: if you are not staying at this resort, ask for the in hotel rate, which is $50 versus $80. Book from the activities desk in the hotel. Do not book from the activities desk in your hotel unless you can get the discounted rate.
