“Central Location, Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

We spent our last two night in Maui at the Plantation Inn. Happened to be during the Lahaina Plantation Days festival which was great. Just a short walk inland and we were there. Lots of food, music, history and culture of Maui. A short walk the other direction and we were on Front Street with an amazing collection of shops and restaurants. Our room and the staff were very nice. The courtyard where we had breakfast was lovely and the jacuzzi felt great after a day walking around Lahaina. Our last day we had to head to the airport early to catch our flight and they made breakfast to go for us so we would have something to eat before the flight. We did not try the restaurant but heard good things about it. They also have free parking which was very convenient.

West Maui and probably South Maui, the two most hotel-rich areas on the island, seem hell-bent on emulating the high-rise-hive ambiance of Myrtle and Miami Beaches. In the west, the town of Lahaina offers a taste of an older, slightly scruffier Maui (not too bucolic -- dining options include a Ruth's Chris and a Hard Rock Cafe) and provides a good base for exploring. In that town, the lodging of choice is the Plantation, literally moments away from the shops and restaurants along Front Street). The rooms (judging from ours) are comfortable and well appointed. They're in two buildings, on either side of a nice medium-sized swimming pool that is available to guests at all times (a boon for early-morning lap swimmers like my spouse). Breakfast is included in the rate and it's prepared by the kitchen of the on-premises French restaurant, Gerard's (Gerard himself was making the breakfasts on at least some of the days we were there). Choices include French toast, eggs Florentine, and a croque monsieur (I pity the reviewer whose taste buds were so exquisite that he or she found the fare "inedible").
The inn has parking in three places, including an adjacent gravel lot that tends to fill up in the evening with patrons of the on-site restaurant. There is a paved lot in back, next to the rear building, but beware of the cement columns when maneuvering in and out of the narrow spaces (never have been as happy to have taken the CDW coverage for my rental car). There was an in-room safe, key -- not keypad -- operated; use of that key incurs an additional charge of $1.04 or $1.06 per day -- a bit cheesy if you ask me. There's a coin-op washer and drier on the second floor of the front building but you need 8 quarters for a load in the former and 7 for the latter.
Guests of the inn receive a small discount at the French restaurant but you must order a three-course meal to apply it. It's expensive, but the food and service are excellent.

Room Tip: Our room was at the front of the second floor of the main building, directly above the French restau...

This was our third visit to this gem in Lahaina. As always, we had a marvelous time and can't wait to go back to this lovely B&B and paradise island. Everything from the staff to the place itself made us feel very pleased, but I have to say that it was Donna who made our stay a little more pleasant.

I was very upset when the Lahaina Inn closed several years ago. I had enjoyed stays there several times. Thinking that the LI was still closed, I booked a room at The Plantation Inn. I couldn't have been happier with my decision. The rooms were much larger than those at LI, and the accommodations were lovely. Rooms had been recently renovated and decorated with lovely art work by island artists as well as other nice touches. The breakfast was wonderful...some of the best French Toast I've ever had. The Inn is connected to one of the best restaurants on Maui, but it's location on Lahainaluna St. allows you to walk to every other restaurant in the area as well as pretty much everything else in Lahaina. This will definitely be my Inn of choice when staying in Lahaina.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second level allow more privacy when you are sitting on the Lanai.

We came to Hawaii for the Maui Classic and to visit National Parks. We stayed at 5 hotels and b&bs. This was the nicest. Our room was nice size and beautifully appointed. It is quiet at night. The breakfast is excellent. If I ever come back to Lahaina. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: We had Lanai room.

I have had several stays at this property and can say that the staff and atmosphere is wonderful. The rooms are starting to need updating as of a couple years ago. The on Site french restaurant is fantastic and you must have the frois gras, truly decadent.

While it is a small place, only a few rooms, it offers a nice pool to lounge, great breakfast in the morning and a nice restaurant to dine.
We like to stay here for a few nights to just relax. Located steps away from shopping and dining, you have everything you need, no need for a car. I usually get up early at sunrise and walk down to the shore where there is a place to get some coffee and bagels. Get to watch the boats leaving the harbor and sun come up.....beautiful, just beautiful. Read for awhile and then off to start another day in paradise

Rooms are theme furnished and clean. Good for quite relaxation, but I like to go to the big resorts after a couple of nights to enjoy the other side,

Worth checking out.
