“Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

Don't stay here if you are looking for a modern 5 star hotel. But if you want to be as close to the beach as possible with great views and you can look past a slightly out dated room its perfect. My wife and I found this beach over 10 years ago (before kids) on our first trip to Maui and swore if we ever went back to Maui again we would stay on the beach. Napili Sunset was a great choice, it had a full kitchen and comfortable clean furniture. The maid service was great, we must have brought in 5 lbs of sand into the room every day and it was always perfect when they left. The best part was the location and the view. We could see the whole bay and the island of Molokai. We saw sea turtles on the beach only feet from our room, and more whales than we could count from our deck. Being right on the beach was super convenient for bathroom breaks for the kids and dropping off or getting more beach gear. Anyone going to Maui should see Napili and if you are going to stay at Napili, Napili Sunset has The Best location on the bay.

Room Tip: Studios don't have the same view, one and two bedrooms are right on the beach.

Our family rented 3 ocean front units for our pre-Christmas celebration. The location was perfect. The beach was awesome. We recommend it to everyone and plan to visit again soon. Hopefully making this an annual event.

Room Tip: We preferred the ground floor ocean front location.

The website was not helpful. I tried to look up the amenities and was not successful. Resulting in carrying a hair dryer that was not necessary. The unit bathroom and kitchen have been upgraded, the rest is dated. The grounds are older generation buildings. They did not provide shampoo or lotion, which I feel is standard.

Our travel agent never informed us that our room included a Murphy bed, not too wild about that. Our room was a "garden" view. That's ok, but it faced the parking lot. So, on trash day, we were jolted awake by the trash pick-up just outside our door at 6:00 am. That was not the only loud noise. Too boot, we had a very noisy rooster on the other side of the unit. Surround sound!

Room Tip: More expensive, but ocean front would not only quieter, but a better view. The location is great, a...

I can't say enough about Napili Sunset! My family and I were graced with staying there in 2011 and loved it so much we returned in January 2012. We have stayed at 3 other properties on Napili Bay, so I feel I can make a clear comparison. Napili Sunset is extremely clean and the housekeepers are "over the top" in making sure you have everything you need, every day! The administrative office staff are the best. I had to adjust our reservation several times, and the patience I received on the other end of the phone line was sincere. Frederick manages the reservations in a true and kind, professional manner, along with the rest of the office staff. We were fortunate to be able to stay in three different styles of rooms. The one bedroom ocean fronts are awesome. You really can't get much closer to the beach. You don't even have to leave your lanai to see whales, sea turtles and the magnificent sunsets. When our family expanded we moved into an upstairs two bedroom unit that was beyond spectacular. The view was outstanding, the unit was spacious, clean and beautiful. When our family downsized, and there were only two of us, we stayed in a pool side studio. Again, another beautiful room. Surprisingly, the kitchens in all units (big or small) are fully equipped with everything you need including a garlic press! They even supplied us with a rice cooker upon request! They have at least three barbecue areas that are well kept, clean and "user friendly". The laundry area is convenient and inexpensive. I believe they even offer free laundry soap. We never had an issue with parking even when we were there at a peak time in their season. Napili Sunset makes you feel special. Upon your arrival, you will be surprised to see your name on their bulletin board, welcoming you. They hand out a nice light-weight blue cloth bag with their logo on it, for you to keep when you get your room keys and beach towels. The beach towels are very soft and thick and they are ready to swap them out any time you need fresh ones. I could go on and on, as this property and the people who work there, have left a lasting impression on me and my ohana (family). After staying at the other properties on Napili Bay (and there are some nice ones), we really don't want to be anywhere else but the Napili Sunset. Why would you?

My sister and I just returned from a 3 week stay at the Napili Sunset. It is located in the center of Napili Bay and the best location on the Bay! We saw large turtles, a monk seal, manta rays, and spinner dolphins from our lanai. The sunsets are gorgeous, with the sun setting between the islands of Lanai and Molokai...got some great photos. It's a beautiful location for a wedding (we saw a few) and just a place to relax and unwind. The kitchens are fully equipped and there are barbeques for all to use and we never had to go out to dinner. Eating dinner on the lanai at sunet is so perfect. The hotel staff are very pleasant and courteous and will take care of any need you might have. The maid service and clean rooms are just excellent! I will continue to return to the Napili Sunset ever year for my vacations...it is Heaven on earth!!

Room Tip: I prefer the upper level rooms for more privacy and a better view of the bay.

Love Napaili Sunset....but be warned that remodeling is going on. We have not had a problem with noise but are not near the work. Only complaint is that 2 different mornings the trash truck has come by at 7:15am and picked up the large dumpsters....no sleeping in on those days! Condos are dated but clean and a good value on a beautiful bay. There isno air conditioning in the units but the ceiling fans have kept us cool at night. Staff is friendly. We will be back!

This was our 2nd year, and we booked for next year.....Yes September is "remodel" month for them, but we didn't really have a problem. We were downstairs unit 123, 2 bed/2 bath, divided by 4 equaled $99 per night! We love the cove, the views and the hospitality. It's out of the way, you don't have to walk 10 minutes take elevators and walk through booths of hawkers just to get down to the beach...it is right there. The remolded units are great, furnished with everything you need plus daily maid service. The views are amazing, you can walk to the little market, rent equipment there if needed, walk to many restaurants or boutiques. It is perfect for us and well kept. You can swim with the turtles in the cove on a daily basis! There is always a light trade wind that keeps the humidity down. We just love this place!

Room Tip: Downstairs, so you don't have to climb stairs. The laundry room has umbrellas & play stuff f...
