“the best spot to stay on maui”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2010

We were wanting a relaxed 'island ' experience for our first trip to Hawaii. we found it at The Mauian hotel.
The reception ( after a long day travelling) was friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms (recently renovated) were spacious, and beautifully decorated. They had shutters back and front to allow the fresh sea breezes and the sounds of the sea to waft through the room.
The grounds ( recently landscaped ) were beautiful and the pool and BBQ area were kept clean and welcoming all the time.
Although there is no restaurant at themauian, it's only a short walk to the neighbouring resort where there is a choice of light lunches through to evening meals. also a short walk away is a small shopping centre where youcan pick up supplies to cook in your room ( selected rooms) or cook by the pool on the BBQ's
The town of Lihaina is a shot taxi drive away,
The beach right out the front of the hotel is a great swimming / snorkeling beach and not too crowded...WE WILL BE BACK!!

Trip advisors reviews were right on for the Mauian..we stayed June 5-12 for a destination wedding the location was perfect . Beach was fantastic close to the Seahouse Grill good reastaurant, We were on the bottom floor as close to the beach as you could get, The bed was fantastic, very clean and the maid service was excellent the only down side was .... everyone and there dog walked by my room this started at 6 in the morning and didnt end until dark not a very private location I suggest putting up gates to discourage neighbours from cruising by on there way to the Gazebo for breakie I know its a public beach but really bothered me with all the traffic.. I would definately return this time staying on a upper floor the elephants that were above us were so inconsiderate..didnt miss the tv or radios or internet but did miss the air conditioner

We stayed at the Mauian for 6 nights in May for our honeymoon. We fell in love with the Mauian. The room was perfect and the hotel was so cozy. The staff were amazing and helpful and we felt very safe! We fell asleep to the sound of the ocean everynight and slept better than we do at home! The feel of the Mauian is very friendly and everyone feels like a big family. The location was perfect for all the tourist things we wanted to do, but it is also perfect for wanting to relax!

We will be back again next year! We LOVE the Mauian!!

We found the mauian through on online booking service looking to spend our Honeymoon at. The pictures looked amazing so we booked it for our honeymoon. This hotel has got to be a hidden gem for sure. Its tucked away on the west side of maui past some residential areas. Everything about the hotel was wonderful for the most part - except for maybe the parking - free parking is available, but there is not a lot, and the spots are kind of tight.

From the outside it looks like an ordinary small hotel, but inside the rooms are modern, very spacious and very clean. The beds are tempur pedic and super comfortable - the best sleep I've had in ages! There are no tvs, phones or AC in the rooms, but it wasn't needed - infact it helped us relax more. ( There is a TV , phone and internet in the family room) the AC wasnt needed - we left the windows open all night and the winds kept it cool. The rooms, even garden view are within literally steps of the beach and all you have to do is step out on your patio to have an 'ocean view'. Our 'basic' room had a microwave and small fridge which was wonderful. You can also get rooms with a kitchen.

A simple breakfast of fresh fruits, breads, juice and coffee is offered which tasted great. Staff was super friendly and very helpful. here is no restraunt on site, but there are several good ones within walking distance.

I would highly recommend this hotel especially to anyone looking to relax and have a nice quiet relaxing vacation. Not for those looking for an exciting night life or tons of amenities - just a wonderful place to relax.

We stayed at the Mauian 5/29-6/4/10. Our group was my husband and I, with our 19yr old daughter and her friend. The Mauian is truly a gem of a hotel! There is a very homey feeling here. Every member of the staff was friendly and helpful. The internet is available in the community room. There is no printer there, but the front desk attendant was very happy to print my boarding passes for me. The location (it really is right on one of the most beautiful beaches in Maui) cannot be beat! The breakfast buffet is very basic, but the coffee and cinnamon bread are delicious! We bought some eggs to supplement for some protein. The kitchen in our room was top notch! The convection oven and stove made it easy to cook up something simple whenever we wanted. It was so nice to be able to really settle down and relax without worrying about needing to go out to dinner every night. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the beds SO comfortable. We will definitely be staying at the Mauian again if we return to Maui. In fact, we want to return to Maui for the Mauian! My most relaxing vacation ever!

We had an amazing week at the Mauian (May 1 – May 8). Our room was a ground floor ocean view, and in fact was the closest ocean view room to the beach (room 110 – see resort map on their website) and I counted only 20 steps from our lanai to the beach! The resort rooms and grounds have all been recently redone and the results are beautiful. The Ohana room needs some updating but I would bet that is next on their agenda. Do be careful on the tiled walkways as they get slippery when wet. I’ll provide as much detail as I can (as I always want to know as much as possible before I go some place).
Our king bed was a Tempur-Pedic and 4 of the 6 pillows on the bed were also. Also in the room was a nice table with 2 chairs, love seat, dresser, and armoire/closet. There are 2 ceiling fans, and along with the louvered windows at the front of the room and on the back we kept cool even without air conditioning (which is not available). A note about the windows – because we wanted the ocean breeze at night we usually slept with at least the lower level window open and kept the roman shades partly up to allow the breeze to flow, which made us feel a little exposed to people who might walk by at night (keep the lights off). We could sometimes hear people above us walking around but it wasn’t a major problem. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7:30am, which is good because with windows open you can hear people outside very easily.
Bathroom was all new with a large walk-in shower. There is no blow dryer in the room, so bring your own. Also, the only toiletry provided was bar soap, so you’ll need your own lotion, shampoo, etc. We had maid service every day and even though a note said to save water they will only replace towels if you leave them on the floor versus using them more than 1 day, we got clean towels every day. The room also had 2 cotton robes for guest use. There was no iron or ironing board.
We didn’t do any cooking but the facilities were good enough it wouldn’t be a problem. There is a full size refrigerator (you can get free bags of ice from the Ohana room), 2 burner stove top, coffee maker (and filters) and convection oven microwave. There are dishes and glasses for 4 (dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, mugs, wine glasses, 2 sizes glass tumblers, and 3 sizes of plastic tumblers, silverware), bottle opener, corkscrew, 3 cooking pots and fry pan, Pyrex dishes with lids, serving and cooking utensils, hot pads, place mats, mixing bowl, measuring cup, and even a large serving tray that is great for taking to the Ohana room to get your breakfast in the morning to bring back and eat on your lanai/balcony. On the grounds (near the pool) there are 3 new large grills if you want to do some cooking out there.
Breakfast in the Ohana room was served between 7:30 and 9am and consisted of coffee and hot tea, 3 types of juices, fresh fruit and some assorted breads (banana muffins, corn bread, raisin bread, some basic dinner rolls). It was a little meager maybe, but since we ate out most dinners and lunches, we didn’t really need more. The office hours are from 8:30 to 4pm
On our lanai there was a table and 2 chairs and a wooden drying rack you could hang beach towels or laundry on. The rooms do come with 2 beach towels and there are 2 different types of beach chairs you can use (upright and low to the ground).
The beach is great! Golden sand, palm trees and blue green water make it picture postcard beautiful. The beach does slope a little steeply and when the waves pick up they can be a little strong, which is what the folks riding the waves loved. There was good snorkeling right there (either end or even the area in the middle of the bay) and at the adjacent Kapalua Bay. Water was so clear! Within walking distance are 4 restaurants (Sea House at Napili Kai resort, Merriman’s on Kapalua Bay, and Gazebo and Maui Grill, both at Napili Shores Resort).
We could tell there are quite a few people who are repeat visitors, and we will probably be repeaters too! We met new friends, loved the location and resort, and we were only a short drive from Kaanapali and Lahaina areas. I highly recommend this resort!

The Mauian was an excellent beach stay with the family. I wanted us to be able to walk right out on the beach and we could do just that. The rooms were perfect- brand new beds, stylish furniture, well equipped kitchens, really nice showers. We liked our patio a lot. It is a very homey set up, there is a nice breakfast in the Ohana room every day, the pool is small but pristine- never crowded. BBQ grills, kids toys, nice beach towels and chairs- right on the beach! The beach is very protected, great for kids. Great big grassy lawn for the kids to run around on. The view from the beach is of Molokai. Very neat. Hope to go back again soon!
