We'd stay here again, and I've recommended to my friends, but there are a few comments I've shared with them first.
The owner is originally from Germany and she had a couple of young German women working there. Everyone was friendly, but it seemed the young women weren't comfortable speaking English. They understood us fine and we them. The owner has been in Hawaii for a long time so the worries I've seen in the reviews about language were not an issue for us. I saw on some of the reviews that this was noted as not expected "B&B" behavior. We are sometimes impatient at B&Bs with chatty owners. This is not the case at this location. All interactions were straightforward, complete, but friendly. We received help with all our requests.
If you don't want to use stairs, opt for an upstairs rooms. They are a bit more expensive, but you wouldn't have to carry suitcases down stairs. Had I known this, I would have chosen one of these. But I must say that the stairs are wide and easy to navigate so it didn't turn out to be an issue.
Our room was spacious and clean and opened directly to the pool.
The breakfast was good and they willingly offered to provide it a little early for us on the day we needed to meet the whale watching boat.
It's located in a residential neighborhood, so you would think it would be quiet and it mostly is, but a neighbor has a rooster! Not much that the owner can do about this, and we wanted to get out and about early anyway.
The signs asking for electricity consideration (turn off A/C, and lights) were not a concern for us. We are used to major hotels asking for "green" awareness, and some hotels we've stayed at for international travel require you to have a key inserted near the door to use electricity. I didn't see anyone monitoring use, and the room was not overly warm after being away for a day without the A/C on.
Laundry facilities are clean, and are conveniently located near the rooms and available for a fee. Racks are available to hang wetsuits, swimsuits, etc. near the pool.
Please note that you should bring cash if you don't want to incur a charge to use your credit card. They provide this information to you when you make your reservation, but I had forgotten.
