My husband and I stayed here for a week mid september. We were not surprised at the resort and its age since we did extensive research via books and online. Everything we read said the same thing-that it is an older hotel, but definitely well run and a great place to stay. Our room was in the Molokai wing and was quite nice-Hampton Inn level not Hilton level. We had a king bed and a twin and there was still plenty of space in the room for moving around-quite roomy Because it was exactly as we expected we enjoyed it immensely. We emailed them ahead of time and asked for an upgrade which we got. We also got the plastic champagne glasses(so what...it was a fun cute idea) with the small cheap bottle of champagne. It was fun and we enjoyed the atmosphere. The location was to die for!!! It was amazing to see the beach and hear the waves from our room. I felt completely relaxed walking around the resort in my bathing suit and bare feet. I didn't feel the need to get dressed up to go out of my room like I do when at higher end resorts. The sunsets we took each evening from our lanai were so amazing they look like post cards. We didn't eat at the resort at all...not sure why, except we purchased a book about hidden restaurants in Maui and we chose to do those kinds of things. We were looking for an "off the beaten path, not run of the mill, not hoity toity, absolutely relaxing and restful no kids" kind of place and we got it!!! We will definitely go back again and without the kids again!!!

We spent one week at KBH for our honeymoon as part of a package deal through Hawaiian Airlines. This was our first time to Hawaii and we had an awsome time. I picked the KBH for its price, value, and beachfront location. We got stuck in the Lanai building and I believe that this is one of the older buildings in the complex. When we arrived we were not greeted as I had had imagined. We checked in and our room was not ready yet. I asked for a free upgrade (as I have read here) but was nicely denied. They finally gave us a room. We got to our room and it had a bottle of champagne, two cheap plastic wine glasses and a letter addressed to a different couple. Obviously this room was meant for some one else. About an hour or so later a bell boy came up and said he was to pick up something but didn't know what. We assumed correctly that it was the champagne. He took the items and off he went, no sorries or apologies. I was starting to get the feeling that no one knew exactly what was going on at this place. A few days later they did send up to us our own set of cheap plastic wine glasses and Korbel champagne. Our room was decent for the price. It definately wasn't four or five star quality but it sufficed. The closet door stuck alot and you had to pay a riduculous $1.50 per day fee to use their small safe. Our TV went out twice and had to be replaced. Their service was prompt though. Be advised: There is no room service at this hotel, also no spa or any of those luxury amenities. Our room opened to the center court area of the hotel. The lanai was spacious and we could see part of the ocean from it. The hotel has only one pool and it is quite small for a hotel this size I thought. One of the benefits of KBH is their complimentary breakfast. It has all the goodies but got old after a few days. Probably the best thing this hotel has going for it is that it is right on Kaanapali Beach with the "big boy" hotels. The beach was litterally 100 feet from our lanai. With the slider open, we could hear the waves crashing ashore at night. I'm glad I did not book in Kehei. This beach is completely awesome. The water is perfect and the sand is very soft. So in conclusion if you are looking for a decent hotel without spending a million dollars, stay here, but if you want the four star treatment look else where. In the end, I was satisfied with KBH, no more and no less. Have a great time!

Our group of nine travelers from the East Coast was impressed with the information that the Kaanapali Beach was the 'most Hawaiian' of the Maui hotels. That and the moderate room rates influenced our decision to choose the resort.

The rooms are clean and neat, the location ideal and the staff genuinely gracious and friendly. But be advised this is definitely a notch or two below the surrounding hotels. For those traveling great distances for a 'once in a life time' vacation, all nine of us would advise saving your pennies for a more upscale experience.

If price is more important than ambience, this family friendly place would be a good choice for you.

This is an awesome hotel! I wouldn't hesitate referring my friends and family to stay here. Prime location, very friendly staff, nice rooms and grounds! I was worried when I read some of the negetive reviews, but when I arrived I felt like I made the right decision. Don't forget if your on your honeymoon to let them know.

I checked and rechecked availability on their website. Once I was "sure" the room I wanted was available, I booked my airline flight commensurate with my planned stay.
After booking my flight, I immediately proceeded to the online reservation section of the Hotels site.
Aftering entering all the information, and trying to press "confirm" I got a notice saying MY CREDIT CARD WAS NO GOOD.

I immediately called the Credit Card company, who assured me there was no problem with my card.

I called the hotel, but only got an answering machine. Of course, nobody returned my call.

I tried booking online about 12 hours later and got the same results - supposedly the room was available, but my card was no good.

I finally got a live talking head who could only repeat "that's because we're sold out on those dates" regardless of what I said to her.

What a terrible web presence. Based on the poor management I've experienced, I can't imagine an actual stay being much better.
