“Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We keep coming back to KBH because of the location. Very close walk to Whalers Village and the stretch of beach is fantastic. This trip we were in the Molokai building (again). Apparently some of the rooms have been renovated (they were working on a few ocean front rooms on the ground floor during our stay), but ours definitely has not been touched. We were supposed to have pool view, but more like a view of some trees and the pool bathrooms. My husband asked if we should ask for another room when we got there, but we were both tired and didn't want the hassle. We don't spend much time in the room anyway. The bed was very comfortable and the room was always cleaned very well each day. We love the Tiki Bar and Chantel and Dale are fantastic bartenders. They make you feel at home. The drinks are cold and reasonably priced compared to other nearby places. We also always meet lots of other down-to-earth people, which is very enjoyable. The hotel is a deal compared to others nearby and the employees are very helpful and nice. They allowed us to use a hospitality room for 30 minutes on our last day, so we were able to spend time at the beach and then shower up quick to be ready for dinner and then our flight home. We will likely be back--hopefully next time in a renovated room.

Room Tip: ask for a renovated room.

“Great value, excellent location, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We spent nine nights at the KBH this January. I had read on tripadvisor that some rooms had been remodeled. We requested a pool view remodeled room. When we reserved, the gal said she couldn't guarantee it would be a remodeled room but they'd try. We did get the remodeled room and our room wasn't just pool view, we had a partial ocean view, which we certainly didn't expect (they consider our room to be pool view but we could see a portion of the beach and the ocean). We slept a few nights with the slider to the patio open and could hear the waves, it was lovely.

The room was tastefully redone, the beds were very comfortable. Very pleased. The staff were very warm, friendly and helpful. The grounds are gorgeous. The beach is pristine. The location is perfect. It is a short walk to Whalers Village with shops and a couple nice restaurants as close to the beach as they can get. Will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Definitely request a remodeled room. We were in the Kauai wing on the fourth floor. Next time I woul...

“DON"T STAY HERE”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

This hotel has the worst customer service and the rudest employees! Starting with Jenny at the front desk. She offered us a bottle of champagne and it was ordered and supposed to be delivered the following dat. When it never came 2 days later, I called the front desk. I talked to one girl and wouldn't even give me her name. She just sat there on the phone ignoring me. Who does that? I just asked your name?? She told me there was nothing on order for us. I spoke with Jenny the next day and said she doesn't recall saying we would get a bottle of champagne. So did I just make this up for a free bottle of champagne? Umm, no. She said it and then claimed she forgot and I was out of luck. She said they don't do it for birthdays. THEN DON"T OFFER JENNY! You offered! (She not only offered it to us, but also our friends that were staying there celebrating an anniversary. They never got theirs either)

I'll tell ya what else they won't do: Provide you with a complimentary toothbrush when your luggage gets lost! Or give any kind of damn.
The rooms are hideous. they are very old and dated as well as the hallways and stairwells. We paid 105.00 to upgrade to a ocean front room and we would have saved money had we just stayed at the Westin.
This hotel is on a good beach but there are pleanty others to chose from that actually HAVE a hot tub! What hotel these days doesn't have a hot tub? It's crazy!
The Valet guys were awesome, but other than that, GO ELSEWHERE!

“Would love to go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The place is not the flashiest, but had a homely feel. The welcome breakfast was a very nice surprise, with Sam giving us lots of information on free activities and paid tours. It's in a great location which you really don't need to leave. The housekeeping staff were lovely and rooms clean. The highlight for me was the farewell ceremony, it was such a lovely touch and the big hug we all received upon leaving was just beautiful, you just don't get that kind of personal treatment anywhere else.
Would love to come back and stay longer.

“Amazing Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We took a family vacation to the Kanaapali Beach Resort in late August. The hotel is located on a 3 mile stretch of one of the best beaches in Maui. It is a short walk along the beach walkway to Whaler's village which has a great selection of open air restaurants with a wide variety of choices as well as excellent shops. The snorkelling by black rock was amazing and was just a short swim away. There is a hut on the beach where you can rent snorkel equipment and book surfing lessons, tours etc.
The hotel has a true Hawaiian feel and many of the staff have been there for a long time which translates into excellent service. I always feel if the staff stays at a property, they must enjoy their jobs and then treat the guests well.
The grounds are lovely and kept immaculate. The pool is a little small but is very nice compared to some of the pools in Hawaii that are surrounded by concrete. The rooms are basic but have everything you need including a coffee-maker and mini-fridge. If you have the option, book the room including the breakfast as they have a great selection at their buffet. There is the famous outdoor Tiki bar and an area that you can order small meals and pizzas.
We booked a pool view room and were on the 4th floor, so we had an added bonus of have a partial ocean view. Our connecting rooms had balconies so it was wonderful to sit out there in the evenings to enjoy the amazing sunsets. Overall a wonderful holiday!

Room Tip: Request rooms in the Kauai Wing as there are elevators in this section of the hotel.
